I never knew there was so much to rapping and rhyming, but this book proves differently! It's also a blast to read. I appreciated that the book gave a little background to rap and hip hop before jumping into the rhyming flow. There are so many different ways to rhyme, it makes my head spin! Who knew hip hop and rap artists had so much to choose from? The back of the book even provides a "dictionary" that can help with rhyming. I'm sure I could be a rap genius after reading this!

If you are looking for rhymes you have found the right book. This is a pretty extensive dictionary and although Gio Williams calls it a Hip Hop Rhyming Dictionary one can find many other uses to these rhymes. As a teacher I found a valuable source of inspiration for different assignments and I have used it extensively for some class projects. The brief introduction to the history of this musical genre just opened my appetite and I am looking forward now to learning more about it.

As its title indicates, Gio Williams' "Hip Hop Rhyming Dictionary: The Extensive Hip & Rap Rhyming Dictionary for Rappers, Mcs and lyricists" is for rappers, masters of ceremony and lyricists. The title insinuates the exclusion of students - of rap and hip hop - from the readership of this dictionary. Anyone with at least a passing interest in these genres is a likely student. Such a person would benefit from reading this dictionary. This dictionary succinctly, yet effectively, documents the evolution of rap and hip hop from West Africa in the eighteenth century to the United States of America in present times. This dictionary also documents diverse rhymes and homonyms, with an emphasis on hip hop rhymes. Its offerings are rather interesting. If you want to know the meaning of rap and hip hop terms, this dictionary will enlighten you.

I would say that every rapper or pop start must have a rhymimng dictionary that could ease his work. This guide book is a great example of rap dictionary, i got it for my fiance who wants to enter in music industry. This turned out to be a great help for his music career. The book also has bits of unique information which I didn’t find in any other book.

There is so much to learn from this book. I had no clue there were so many different types of rhymes. This book is very good guide for rappers who wants to tighten their rhymes. The homophone dictionary also added some interest to this book. Very insightful book for persons who love to play with words and rhymes.

Bought this for our 16 you sob who loves rap. He is not a great student, but now he's spending a LOT of time focusing on language and meaning.

This book is fantastic! It helped me better understand hip hop and wording properly. I have recommended this book to many people. Now I understand words that I never understood before!!!

The description of the ebook is a complete misrepresentation of what you'll get. There is no "history of Rap and Hip Hop" There is no dictionary. There are no examples of rhyming. IGNORE THE DESCRIPTON it does not have any of this!!! It is simply a listing of record label addresses and a few pages at the end that describe in sparse detail why you could start your owns. Let me repeat myself: THIS IS NOT A DICTIONARY OF ANYTHING!!! I'm listing a complaint with Amazon regarding this ebook.

I got this book just out of interest, I go to this slam poetry night once a week and would love to get up and do a bit of performing but am a bit nervous about it. There is a good technical guide at the start of this eBook that outlines different types of rhymes with some good example. The actual rhyming bit is kind of random but the randomness is actually helpful because it gets you to think about rhyming phrases rather than just words. An added bonus is that reading the book I was listening to some music (not just rap) and I found I was better able to appreciate the craft of the lyrics.
