Braun Silk-épil 5 Epilator, Wet & Dry, Lasting Smooth Skin, SE5-230

I never write reviews but I feel like I benefitted so much from reading other folks’ reviews and watching YouTube videos, etc. that I should add my two cents! I have very sensitive skin and very thick hair; I’m one of those people for whom waxing never gets less painful and for whom my hair only sort of thins out over time. I’ve always dreaded my wax appointments, and wished I could find another way. I finally did. This gadget arrived last night. I’ll be direct with you: I wanted this for my entire bikini area. Entire area, ok? Not just outside bikini lines. As of yesterday, I barely had one day’s worth of stubble in some areas and in others which had been tweezed (tweezed!!! The suffering through which I have lived!!!!) I had even less, including areas where I could see hair was about to grow but hadn’t broken the skin yet. Same for my inner thighs. But when the Epil 9 arrived I still wanted to try it. Now, I’d read many a review saying it hurts so bad etc. and I can genuinely say this does not hurt more than a wax and in fact is much more manageable because you can take breaks and you are in control. It takes longer than waxing, yes, because of those breaks/control, but the overall experience is (for me) much more pleasant. I’m in my own home. I can do some, come back later to do more, etc. And while I will certainly update this review to share my experience over time, here’s what I can say as someone totally new to epilating who used this for the first time last night without any prep minus exfoliating and showering earlier in the day: — This was so easy to use. — This worked shockingly well on what had seemed nearly nonexistent hair. It pulled more out than I thought I even had, and it got the roots as far as I can tell. — The safety features work! It sort of self-propels a little and disaster was narrowly averted when it immediately shut off when it sensed it was about to pinch skin. — In fifteen minutes or so, I had been brave enough to do the entire top of my bikini area and about half the sides and my inner thighs. Today I play to finish the job. It’s only scary because it’s the first time, I think, and because I don’t trust myself yet. But on a whim for a first time I was thrilled with what I got done. — At first I was a little red and a few follicles had a tiny bit of blood. But truly, tiny. Barely worth mentioning. Within an hour or two all redness was gone and my skin actually feels less tender than it does after a wax. — My first attempt was done dry. No hot water, not fresh out of the shower, etc. and things went fine. I moisturized after. — Need to emphasize — I was working on the most delicate part of my body and everything was fine, effective, and easy to use even as someone who has never done this before. If you’re interested in an alternative to waxing, this thing truly seems to do the trick and will pay for itself. While I initially purchased for only bikini/Brazilian area, I’m actually considering doing my legs too. This is a game changer!

This item has an American Plug that doesn't work in Australia. There was no mention of it in the description. I had to get an adaptor or go through the hassle of returning it so I got an adaptor and the product works ok.

For years I've gone to a salon to be waxed once a month (every 5 weeks) and have been spending $200+ per visit. I was looking for something to reduce that monthly cost. (I pay for a full leg, brazillian, arms & armpits). I've used an epilator before, but it was nothing close to this one! There is a huge difference between the Braun & the more basic model I had before. (also sold on Amazon for about $30) It's not loud, even on the faster speed, I could easily hear the TV over the epilator.. Pain for me was minimal. I've found that taking an ibuprophen about an hour before helps quite a bit. I was almost thinking it must not be working, until I pulled the head off...it was full of hair! It was pulling even hairs too short to wax! My legs feel so silky smooth..no red bumps or discomfort.. I will easily be able to do everything but the Brazilian, (can't see myself epilating there) I can already tell this will easily save me more than $100 a month! There is a light on the epilator, which makes seeing the hair much easier, deffinately a plus! I would (and have already) recommend this Braun model. I dont know if I'll have use of the other attachments, but they are a nice bonus! Great price for a quality machine, does everything it says, I'm so happy with this epilator..

I RAAAAARELY give out 5 stars for ANYTHING these days! We as consumers have to wade through so much false promises, false advertising and just general BS! Imagine my surprise when this little bad boy not only delivered but EXCEEDED my expectations!! I have been a long time waxer of chin, lip and neck hair (thanks Obama 😆) and had gotten pretty good at keeping things under control with minimal bumps and ingrown hairs (they would still come but not really often). Unfortunately, the maker of the wax I used changed recipes and now it's just a sticky mess. Didn't work for me any more. 😭 I had no idea what to do so I started looking online for another comparable brand. In the process I came across reviews for this gadget. And what the hell...I decided to give it a try 🤷🏾‍♀️ By the time I got it my unwanted hairs were pretty long. I put it together (the directions are kinda confusing and I still don't know what the various heads are for) and I gave it a shot. It was kinda prickly painful at first....to the put where I thought I was doing something wrong. But I kept trying and I kinda got used to it. When I was done I halfway didn't think all the hair would be gone ..BUT MY CHIN WAS SOOO SMOOTH!! I couldn't believe it! I kept rubbing and looking in the mirror and nothing! I wiped with an astringent and held any excitement in check because I saw that some people got a lot of bumps. Well, it's been about two weeks and no bumps and the hair is JUST NOW starting to come back!! Whaaaaaatt??? That's BETTER than waxing! Soo happy I found this! Oh and the battery charge has lasted forever!

This is a great set. A trimmer and gadget for all areas with hair. The epilator is awesome and easy to clean. Can hurt a bit, but is getting better over time and repeated use. The razor end is great for pits except there is a sharp piece on it that I occasionally scratch my armpit with and it hurts. I did not read the instructions so I might be doing it at the wrong angle or something. Easy to clean and traps hair so that it doesn’t get everywhere.
