Are the 1star review serious? I purchased this product and it is great! You must know that similar products are definitely more than this price.

I am quite pleased with mine. As I said in another question... the ISS was quite cool to look at as it flew over. Very bright. And I focused it at a mixing console with the lights out and I could read the fader marks. Neato. what a nice toy.

Does this also work as a range finder?

I've used mine a couple times, but didn't notice a range finder. Probably unlikely considering the price.

Does this unit have a tripod mount molded in it?

Does it put off any light when useing inthe dark

This does not fit to your face, so you have a small screen that gives off a little light. This is really an incredible and fun device. It is amazing how far you can see using the infrared & how clear.
