So this is the latest in the range of technic supercars from Lego, and in my view the best. I've got them all ( I might have a Lego addiction ! ), and they have learnt from all the previous ones to make this one a more refined build with some new pieces and techniques. Everything about it feels special from the way the box opens to reveal the three boxes inside with pictures of the car, to the manual with all the extra info about both the real car and the "Lego-fication" of it. Really worth exploring all this, plus the videos they have done just to really embrace the build experience. As always, worth checking online to see if there's any amendments to the manual and downloading a PDF version from Lego. These are complex builds, especially the gear boxes and in this case hybrid drive, so in every other one I've built I've found it worthwhile doing that just to make sure you've got the latest version. The manuals look and feel great. Seriously weighty and quality paper. Artwork matches the box styles, and the diagrams are clear, though because it is a very complex build it's worth taking a bit of extra care on some of the steps as it is easy to get a gear or piece the wrong way and then have to undo several steps of building when you realise later. Because the P1 is a hybrid drive, this not only has a fully functional gearbox attached to the engine, there's also a selectable hybrid motor assembly to, as well as the flappy paddles for gear changes. It's truly mind boggling how they get it all the detail in there ! Value for money depends on how much you pay for it. I got this on a deep discount, so felt pretty good about it. If you pay full RRP, then I think it's expensive, but Lego isn't a cheap hobby sadly. As it's a 1/8 scale vehicle, it's pretty big... 60cm long by about 25cm wide, so you'll need to think about somewhere to display it. There's lots of options for wall mounts if you're short on space which is how I have mine mounted and I think it looks really cool. Overall I totally recommend this if you're into Lego Technic and supercars... If you're collecting them all, you won't be disappointed with this one. If you only wanted one, obvs that decision will be swayed by which of the cars you are a bigger fan of, but this is the one you should get if you just want the best of them all. Especially since it is often reduced in price.

Just amazing, there is nothing more to say, loved the build being put together, the quality and detail is just incredible, and also just the packaging and the detail that has….and the instructions give you an insight into the design of the build through each stage….its a must for any enthusiast, definitely a complex build so not for younger builders 👍👍

It's an amazing set piece. Took me around 15 hours to build. It's divided into 23 bags, every bag is around 40 minutes, so you don't need to manage your time, or sort your pieces (if you build 1:8 Technic models from other producers, you know what I mean). The gearbox is a bit finicky, but you won't be playing with it that much once built.

I bought this LEGO McLaren for my boyfriend for Christmas, and it was definitely a great gift. The packaging was really well done, and the whole thing felt premium right from the start. It’s a big set and quite complex, so it took him three days to build, but he really enjoyed the challenge. Once it was finished, it looked incredible. The details are amazing, and with a little extra customization, it looked even better. He was so impressed with how it turned out that he even made an edit of it just to show it off!

Having previously built the Lego Lamborghini Sian, I was eager to acquire this exceptional set. Unboxing it was an amazing experience, featuring two high-quality books that complement the set and overall experience. The box itself is a piece of art, worth keeping even after the set is complete. Additionally, e-versions of the books are available through the Lego build app for those who prefer using a laptop or tablet. The car model is outstanding, with an intricate gear system that requires careful attention. I recommend taking a break before starting on it, as staying focused and taking your time is crucial. The entire build took approximately 12 hours, spread over a couple of weeks. It is now proudly displayed in a clearview case mounted on the wall. While the front design resembles a McLaren 650S rather than a P1, I understand this is due to technical challenges and limitations of Lego. Nonetheless, the design team has accurately captured all other angles of the car, especially the rear. The only reason for a deduction in my rating is a missing piece in Bag 2, which prevented me from completing part of the rear axle. Thankfully, it did not hinder the overall build. Lego's customer support promptly sent a replacement piece through their online program, arriving within 10 days free of charge.
