Love this case
Fits my Macbook Pro 15", iPad, and Kindle quite snugly. The Grid-It holds all of their related cords, along with a pair of earbuds, flash drives, and my phone cords and charger. People at the office have drooled at seeing the Grid-It providing order to normally cabled chaos. It's also quite stylish - the modern attache case for today's "professional jerk". Like me.Sadly, there's still a few problems.1) It doesn't fit everything I want to. My old bag held all of that, plus: a Logitech diNovo Mini, HDMI cord, HDMI to mini DisplayPort, Belkin 6 outlet surge protector, an ethernet cable, a crossover cable, and a sonic screwdriver. It really was bigger on the inside.2) The shoulder strap is awful. Replace. Immediately. Search Amazon for the "Domke Shoulder Pad". I use it for every shoulder bag I have, and it's brilliant.3) Strap hardware is plastic. This would have been magnificent if they were metal. To wit, metal gives me more piece of mind that the hardware won't snap and let ~$3000 worth of electronics fall to the ground and break into a ballet of bent aluminum, glass shards, and plastic slivers.4) iPad pouch doesn't have an elastic to keep it snug. Rather, it does, but it isn't very strong and thus may as well not even be there. Have to be careful opening the case to ensure that the iPad doesn't fall out.5) It attracts dog hair like no other bag I've ever had.Despite the problems, this is a great case to buy, especially if it is on sale. And even moreso if you'll be using it in a limited sense - ie as your office junk carryin' case. However, should you need a mobile command station from whence you are able to set up an impressive array of multi-media gadgets centered around your MacBook Pro, get a Timbuk2 or Bag of Holding and a couple Grid-Its instead.

Good rigid case for the money
First of all, I didn't set out looking for a semi-rigid bag. I thought I wanted just a thickish sleeve. When I stumbled across this, the idea appealed to me, so I pulled the trigger.WHAT I LIKE- Semi-rigid shell: Similar to the hard case that comes with Oakley sunglasses; feels solid enough to bounce off walls, turnstyles, etc, without sacrificing weight- Lightweight: The contents far outweigh itWHAT COULD USE IMPROVEMENT- Too much room inside. OK, this is subjective. All I'm carrying is a 15" MacBook Pro, charger, wireless mouse, and occasionally an iPad. Everything is secure, but they're swimming in space. A narrower design would be welcome for my taste- Awkward shoulder strap attachment points are located on either side of the zipper. I'd rather the points be on the same sideI'd give 4.5 stars if possible, deducting half for the awkwardness of the strap attachments. Still, for the price it's a good deal and I don't worry about dinging my laptop by casually bumping against things. I wouldn't throw it off a roof, but I'm confident it's protected from day-to-day carrying.

The Perfect Everyday Bag
This bag is ideal for anyone on the go.My job has me on the go around town and on a plane very frequently.I wanted something that was lightweight yet secure for all my precious toys. The Grid-IT System is outstanding for keeping all the cords from tangling and allowing you to easily find and use what you need. I have an Mac Book aAir charger, Ipad charger, thumb drivers, and a MicroUSB Charger in the grid it.The pocket on the outside of the bag is very handy for a boarding pass or ear buds. The iPad pocket on the other side of the Grit-It is a clutch move by Cocoon and a huge improvement over the CPS-400.I'm not really sure what the reason for the other reviewers comment was, but my 13" BackBook Air fits in laptop section very securely no problems. I even tested with an old Dell 15" Inspiron and it is very snug and secure. I really don't understand how you can think a laptop would be insecure in that pocket, but to each their own.The fact that you don't have to put your laptop in a separate bin is nice too. 1/100 TSA agents that are on a rampage that day may ask you to put the laptop in a separate bin. Most of the TSA agents don't have an issue if you take the laptop out of the laptop section and put it on top of the laptop pouch. Just act confident and don't ask for permission from the TSA agent and you'll get away with it.

I like the concept
But the cocoon cable holder part weighs too much. I wish it hadn't.

Welcome to the world of Grid-It
I never heard of Grid-it until recently. I was impressed with the way you can organize components using this product. As I was trying to decide which size to buy, I stumbled across this grid-it case for macbook. It has a grid-it built in to this case. For $29.95, I felt that it was worth a try.The case is somewhat rigid. Not a hard shell case, but definitely rigid enough to protect what's inside under normal circumstances. It appears to be well made, and I am impressed with the quality. My original purchase was for the 13" size, but when I found this 15" size for the same price, I bought it.You could buy the 11x15 grid-it for $25, or get this case with the grid-it panel that's just a bit smaller for $5 more. Either way, the grid-it product is a great organizational tool.UPDATE...One of the elastic straps has come unraveled at the edge. Unfortunately, I am unable to sew it back on because it is frayed at the end where it attaches to the edge of the grid it panel. I haven't contacted the company yet, but I will and will update my findings regarding this issue.

Nice, but not quite
Build quality is suspect. I love Grid-It, but all the bags CocoonInnovation makes have quality issues.

At almost 4 years old, it still looks and functions like new.
I bought this case almost 4 years ago. It's been used for cross country trips, countless outings and almost daily work travel. I'm not careful with it and it gets thrown around quite a bit over the course of the day. I honestly was sitting there today looking at it trying to remember when I bought it because it was still holding up so well. I carry my 15" macbook pro in it and it's never sustained damage and there is more than enough room for everything I could think to possible carry with me. Fantastic case, will definitely purchase more from this manufacturer in the near future.
