This bowl is exactly like the 3 we bought at Walmart a decade ago. So happy to have found another one. Here are the ACTUAL measurements of the bowl. For the Extra Small bowl, it has an external diameter of 4.75 inches and an external depth of about 1.75 inches. I do not know the measurements of the X-Small bowl size. I'm not sure how the "Extra Small" and "X-Small" bowls are different. I wish they didn't have such similar names. Hope this helps.

***Updates are located at bottom of review.******Original Review***I recently discovered that stainless steel bowls are some of the better bowls for pets since they resist bacteria, unlike plastic bowls. I had been using plastic bowls for a number of years for our cat but as soon as I heard this, I immediately began searching for some good, but inexpensive stainless steel bowls. There are a number of choices and brands available on Amazon but this is one that got good reviews, was fairly inexpensive, and has a cool design on it so I ordered this one, along with the same bowl in the Valentine red heart design.As soon as they arrived, I washed them up and began using them, along with tossing the old, plastic bowls in the garbage. The bowls seem to be well-constructed and made of good-quality material. I ordered the small size bowls and they are approximately 5 1/2" in diameter and are almost 2" high. They actually hold quite a bit of water and I've noticed that my cat drinks more water now than she did with her old bowls! I use a pet feeder for her food so I've only used these bowls for water and canned cat food but so far, I'm very pleased. They also wash up nicely. The bottom has a removable rubber ring so you can throw it in the dishwasher but I prefer to handwash them and I've had absolutely no problems. The design looks as good as new and I liked these bowls so much that I also ordered the same bowl in the argyle pink design so now I have three of these bowls! The rubber rings on the bottom prevent the bowls from sliding across the floor and so far, they have worked well for us.One thing some reviewers mentioned is they had problems removing the sticker that comes on the inside of the bowl. In all three of the bowls I received, I didn't have that problem and it seemed as though the edges of the stickers aren't pressed down a lot so, as long as I carefully pulled up the sticker, it all came off the bowl with no sticker residue left. Hopefully other people have the same luck that I did with these.Overall, I am very happy that I found these bowls because they are much safer for our cat, they are very affordable, come in pretty designs, and wash up nicely! As long as they continue to work well for us, I will buy more of these as needed and I definitely recommend these bowls to anyone with cats or small dogs. It's nice that they come in different sizes for all different sized animals!***Update 07/22/2016 - We've now been using these bowls for our cat for about six months and they still work great. We recently purchased a fourth bowl since it's nice to have several handy. They are very easy to clean too. We have hard water and every so often we get a bit of buildup (we handwash these bowls to maintain the designs). I just take the bottom ring off, put it in the dishwasher when this happens and the bowls come out almost as good as new! The designs haven't faded off at all by cleaning them this way. I still recommend these bowl because they are very affordable, easy to clean, and come in a variety of designs!

I bought 3 of these (I have 3 cats) because I wanted to see the size. 1/2 pint seemed small to me. I got the bowls. The size is perfect for a cat. About an inch wider than can of tuna. They are a nice weight with a rubber bottom. Supposedly I can remove the rubber bottom and put these in the dishwasher but I am afraid that if I pry the bottom off I can't get it back on. I hand wash these instead. I love the outside of these bowls. Just what I was looking for and does not look like it will flake off or fade over time. They stack real nice. I had 21 oval porcelain cat bowls in various stages of chipped that took up a whole drawer of storage. I bought 15 more of these and threw away the chipped cat bowls. Since I now have 2 small stacks of bowls I have space in my drawer for other things. I've seen these bowls for as much as $23 each. This is the best price I have seen.After having these for several months, I noticed that when the bowl gets wet (or cleaned) that the painted fish motives also becomes wet and will smear. I hand wash these ( I have 21) and let them air dry. I would venture to say they are not dishwasher safe. If I stack them before they are completely dry, the paint comes off and sticks on the inside of the stacked bowl. I can easily get the paint off with a scrubbing pad but it does concern me that the paint might have lead or be otherwise unsafe. As these are food bowls. I make sure there is none of the paint on the inside of the bowl. On the other hand, the little fish smear but it would take some effort to get the paint completely off without possibly taking the blue enamel off the bowl.I still like the way these stack, and they take little room for a whole weeks worth of bowls for my cats. I am disappointed that the cute little fish pattern now looks like whitish globs on the bowls and remain sticky to the touch but I would buy these again. You cannot be careful enough to keep the fishes intact.

I have a senior dog that can't chase a bill around the hardwood floors as she eats. I love that it stays I'm place without moving even if she needs to lay down to eat. It's easy to Clean and doesn't stain or hold odor as we feed a raw diet

These Bowls are perfect for cats or small dogs. Veterinarians will tell you that stainless steel bowls are the best for any animal. They do not chip. They are super easy to clean. The bowls are durable, dishwasher safe and cute. Unlike some similar bowls, the paint doesn’t peel after numerous washings. I had a couple of bowls where the manufacturer’s sticker would not come off the bowls. I contacted the company and they immediately made it right. All around a great experience. They also make larger bowls for big too!

I bought the 2nd time and the stew bowl had huge slit. see photo. Amazon said they’ll replace so let’s see.————————-It’s a cute and sturdy bowl. The sticker came off easily without residue. It’s bottom ring comes out easily for washing. So, so far so good.

We have 2 female tea cup size chihuahuas and they love their bowls. I bought 2 teal for water and 2 purple for food. Helps to keep them clean.

Cute but the base rubber fell off

Great dishes just the job for my cat. Great value for money and they came really quickly. Much better than plastic bowls as much easier to clean. Can even use a scratchy pad on the inside. The only complaint I have is that they only have pink and my cat is a boy! He was misdiagnosed as a girl when a very young kitten thoughost! ! He doesn't mind though.

Have a couple of these in different colours and great for cat biscuits and also great as water bowls.

This is a good size as I don't like really huge cat dishes. It is lighter to handle than heavy ceramic ones can be. Even though it is lightweight it does not move around when my cat is eating from it thanks to the non-slip rubbering on the base. This rubber ring is easily removed before puttiing the dish in the dishwasher. I wish it came in more colours.

Use these bowls for both my cat and small dog there'll ideal, easy to clean and stack and doesn't move around the floor even for my boisterous puppy!

Beautiful little bowl, has a ring round the bottoms to help it not be pushed around. Perfect size for cats or small dogs. Cant wait to use it. Would buy again! 5*
