All-in-all a fantastic product for the price. I purchased the set of radios with included accessories for right around $50. I tested their range with both the "high gain" (long) antenna and the short (stubby) antenna. Both achieved about the same performance. It was a very unscientific test. Myself and my son walked in different directions in a very populated suburban neighborhood jam packed with wireless interference. We were able to hear each other pretty clearly from approximately 4100 feet away. (Around 3/4 mile). Considering the nature of the environment I wasn't really expecting to even get that far away. We were still able to hear each other when we turned around and stated back toward home so they probably still had a little more broadcast range than what we achieved. In an open environment such as a field, I imagine the range would be even better. I don't have any repeaters nearby that I'm aware of but these radios are capable of using them if you know how to program it properly, significantly extending their range. The features on these radios are immense. I'm learning how to operate these radios using the keypad alone for now, but there is software to make setting up the radios much faster if you know what you're setting up. After a little digging online, it doesn't seem so difficult. The design of the radio feels pretty solid. I like that it came with a desktop charger as well as a USB-C cable to charge on the go if needed. The USB-C charging port is on the back of the battery so you can stand the radio up and charge it. The only real downside to this package is the included earpiece. The sound quality of the handset itself is great but the earpiece sounds muddy and muffled. I tested this with a couple different radios and with the earpiece installed and removed and it makes a huge difference. You might be able to find a better quality earpiece. I didn't really intend to use the earpiece in the first place so I didn't take any stars away for that minor inconvenience with an accessory I won't use anyways. Now I'm just waiting for the wireless programmer to arrive to test that out.

Nice radio and good color combo

Have been very happy with this purchase. Just getting in to GMRS radios so wanted an inexpensive radio that was not junk. This kit was perfect! Pleased with the quality, performance, and feel of these radios. Would recommend!

I like the style of these GMRS radios. they work well and so far they have pretty good range. I can hit a repeater that is 15 miles away from me with no issues in clarity. Direct (radio to radio) I am getting about 5-8 miles. The sound is loud and clear. These radios also have built in frequencies for NOAA weather, a nice feature so you do not have to program. The battery life is pretty good. I am getting about 4-5 hours of constant use before I need to recharge. Also with the ability to use USB-c charger, that's a major bonus! The one thing I really dislike is the screen brightness, I cant read the screen in daylight. There needs to be a brightness and contrast adjustment added to the menu options. Other than the screen brightness issue, I like the radios and I do recommend them.

Purchased these radios for use at a racetrack and couldn't have been happier with their performance. The range gave us complete coverage over the entire track with the longer antennas and the audio quality was great (both transmit and receive). The batteries easily lasted the whole day. It was also very easy to program them with CHIRP so that both radios are the same, a great feature in my opinion, and the price was very budget friendly.

Very versatile, lots of functionality, 3 antennas; overall a great buy for the money.

First I want to be clear on a couple of things. The radios that are advertised as HAM and GMRS are not allowed in this country by a Rule the FCC made in 2017. I know it well because several of my veteran buddies lost the use of our Baofeng UV-5R radios. I called The FCC and we could not be grandfathered in, We had radios we could listen too but not transmit on. I have receive 4 different radios that are not allowed. I called the FCC again I was hoping the rule changed again but no such luck. The only company that you can buy a 2 mode radio HAM/GMRS is Tidradios H3 and H8. Beware you have to have 1 GMRS radio and 1 HAM radio. I want to explain 1 star rating is for the people that are still selling those radios that are against the FCC rules. Do you really want to mess with the feds. As far aas Baofeng radios go, i own several and I give their radios 5 stars. They work great and have just as great price point. BUT BEWARE OF THEIR NON-SUPPORT DEPARTMENT. THEY GET MINUS 10 STARS. WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED A RADIO BOTH HAM AND GMRS ICONTACTED THEIR NON-SUPPORT DEPARTMENT TO ASK A QUESTION. MY ANSWER WAS YOU DID NOT BUY IT FROM OUR WEBSITE,YOU BOUGHT IT FROM AMAZON. YOU GET NO HELP OR NO WARRANTY FOM US. THAT WAS BAOFENG. I GO THROUGH A LOT RADIOS PROGRAMMING THEM FOR PEOPLE. EVEN THOUGH THEIR RADIOS ARE FINE THEIR NON-SUPPORT WILL KEEP ME FROM EVER BUYING ANY BAOFENG AND TELL ALL THE PROPLE THAT I PROGRAM THEIR RADIOS. ALWAYS BUY THEM FROM AMAZON. BEST PROTECTION FOR THE CONSUMER. AND WHEN YOU CALL THEIR SUPPORT PEOPLE THEY LISTEN AND HELP. These Ham radios are very helpful on vacations where cell service doesn’t work.
