K&N Cold Air Intake System: High-Flow Air Filter, Increase Performance & Towing: Compatible with 2008-2019 Nissan: Frontier,Pathfinder, Xterra, 63-6014

Purchased 7 months ago. Relatively simple install. Upon starting I could immediately tell it was pulling air through the crack by your hood, where it was not before. Can for sure feel the power. Noticed I got up to speed a little quicker and acceleration felt SMOOTHER. Remember it is just 15 HP so it is not a huge improvement. The sound is honestly the best part. If my window is down I can hear it pulling air through the hood when accelerating. When you romp on it, it absolutely comes alive at 4000 rpm it's like a switch is thrown and you hear it working. It sounds like a demented leafblower! No joke , it is like this hollow whine that makes your hair stand up. Better if window is down though. Overall good product. To be honest, probably not worth the money, but not too much stuff is made for our trucks so we take what we can get and this is my hobby. Dyno tested at 230 hp to the ground with 3 inch lift and 32s. Believe the graph they give you. The gas mileage increase canceled out my lift and tires so about 2mpg in town. Was getting 16 now about 18 in town. If I took the lift and tires off I could probably get 20 with my bedcover down which is a great purchase as well (1-2mpg in town).

I purchased this intake as soon as K&N verified it fit the 2012 Nissan Frontier 4.0 V6, I went with this (plastic model) because it claimed to make 3 more hp over the metal version, whether that is noticeable in a mid-size truck I cannot report. I can say the plastic version seems to be somewhat quieter overall until redline is reached versus the metal versions, I am basing this on past metal intakes I have had on different vehicles, so it is not a direct comparison, but a pretty good guess. There is a definite noticeable difference in overall power and acceleration after adding the intake. The problem is the intake sounds so good at engine redline it took no more than 10 minutes for me to get pulled over by a very understandable police officer for doing way more than the speed limit. As far as any increase in MPG it is slight, but noticeable if you can control your right foot. The instructions are quite good that came with the intake and make this install a quick one. In about a half hour to 45 minutes you'll be looking for you license, insurance and registration, hahaha.

I just installed my K&N Cold Air Intake today on my 2012 Nissan Frontier. I love it. I drove under normal city driving and the computer is saying 18 mpg, which is about 2 miles better than normal. I haven't driven on the interstate yet but will be doing a 4 hour drive next week. I usually get about 18 mpg on the interstate. I'm hoping to top 20 MPG.UPDATE!!!!After hitting the road for a 2 hour drive out of Charlotte I did not notice a gain in MPG. I did notice a little more pickup though.The sound is pretty good. Like everyone is saying you might not notice it until you reach 3000 RPM.Pretty easy install. It took me about 2 hours with some phone calls in between the install. I would think it would be about a 1 to 2 1/2 hours for anyone that can operate a wrench. Instructions include pictures for every step and are to the tee. The only issue I have is where to mount the radiator overflow. It was attached to the old filter housing by a grommet that was removed during install. This hole where the grommet needs to go is not present on the K&N filter.

Did not work out for me. Why the 5-stars? Because it fit and did do what the advertisement said. That aside, I lost 1.5-2.0 MPG after I installed this system. I installed this on August 30th in hopes of a little bit better gas millage. After a week of running the same route under basically the same weather conditions my MPG dropped. On one occasion I did put my foot through the grill and YES! the sound is awesome but that was not my goal. I was just looking for a bit better millage. While I did not measure the fresh air intake volume area as compared to the OEM filter housing, I think it is a bit smaller overall when the hood gasket is in place.My readings were taken from the Garmin ecoRoute HD Vehicle Diagnostics Communicator HD that is connected to the OBDI. The readings I have are for both the OEM and K&N intake with the OEM being the better of the two. No, it is not scientific but it is pretty much an Apples to Apple comparison. Driving the same route, using the same fuel from the same station and coasting where possible rendered less that desirable results.Since this has been used I can't return it so I might be able to sell it locally.All in all I am scheduled at the shop to on 09/06/2014 to put the OEM equipment back on. First, the good: Great sound, definite increase in power at 3750-5000rpm, and looks nice installed.Which brings us to the bad: The instructions fail to make ANY mention of the transmission breather line that is fastened to the out-going airbox. So you have this hose dangling there with no reference to it, no image of it, no clear input on wtf to do with it. It's a terrible feeling, like the cliche of putting something complicated together then finding a single small screw left on the workbench. I said "Oh s**t" more than a few times that night.The solution? Look up instructions for AEM's intake and follow those for the breather hose. A zip-tie later and you're good to go. (Way to drop the ball, K&N.)So that said, it's mostly great. I have NO idea how it impacts MPG simply because the sounds and pull of 4000+ rpm revs are too enticing now to take it easy enough to appreciate any increase in fuel economy. Maybe time will tell.Also, the finished assembly feels flimsy. It's a flexible mounting arrangement, but it feels like you need to tighten something down more. A marked contrast to the previous intake systems I've installed on other vehicles. Likely to allow of off-road bouncing around on Xterras...? Maybe...?Bottom line: Installs in about 40 minutes (if you figure out the breather-hose issue), sounds great, looks good, and without the benefit of a dyno, I'd say it delivers the roughly 15hp increase the write-up suggests it will. If you have the $$$, I say go for it. You won't regret it...unless you chuck a ratchet down the driveway in frustration like I did about that freaking breather-hose. (Go get it and a durable zip-tie. It'll be fine.)

Easy install probably spent about an hour assembling it and installing it in my 2010 nissan xterra. Have had it in for a few months now and it sounds perfect. You can hear the intake sucking in the air when you hit around 3 or 4 thousand rpm. Sweet hum and not overly loud. Definitely can tell there's less lag from the gas pedal to the engine than stock. Highly recommend

Make sure you stay on top of tightening EVERYTHING once a year. I retired and fell behind my tightening. The air filter rubbed on my inner fender. Now I have to replace the filter. I also lost a mass air flow screw and spacer (these also come loose for some reason).

As with all K&N products, this is an excellant kit. I didnt buy it to make a whole lot more power but primarily for intake protection. I use K&N filters on everything I own, and I swear by them. My only gripe with their intake kits, are the instructions arent always very clear, and the hose clamps they use are so close in size, its often hard to figure out which ones go where. Better instructions with color diagrams would ease installation dramatically. Even better would be a Youtube video showing differant installation on differant models. Obviously these are test fit prior to production on a real vehicle, so why not make an installation video for each vehicle while youre doing it?

Installation took about 45minutes.Box contained everything it needed and the filter works great.I can already feel an increase in power in the lower end and the engine sounds great when you put the pedal down!K&N has always been my go to for CAIs and filters and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I had to file the rectangular port where the MAF fits so it would face the right direction. It fits backwards but the truck won't run with the MAF in backwards. Once I filled the port a little it installed just fine and does what it's designed to do - make your truck louder.

The product is well built and easy to install but it did. It give it the jump or extra boost as anticipated. Also pushed the fuel consumption up.
