Excellent all round rub
This and THE HOT RUB are my family's favorite rubs. Works best on chicken & pork but also good on beef, turkey, and game meat. Takes all smoke really well, fruitwoods especially. Nice bark when cooking low/slow and color is excellent. I like that it's not too salty, so I can control saltiness with my base layer of salt/pepper/garlic. Then I add a layer of hot rub for a little spice if needed. Ribs are amazing with this rub.

Two thumbs up Malcom!
I am fairly new to smoking BBQ so in my quest to learn I spent many hours reading articles, forum threads, and watching Malcom Reed's How To BBQ Right videos. His videos and guides are fantastic for home cooks who aren't experts. For my first few smokes a tried a couple store bought rubs and made a mixes at home based on recommendations on some forums (even the all-popular "Jeff's Rub") but always found myself wanting to try Malcom's own rubs. I am sure glad I did! The rub is not too spicy, not too sweet, and has a fantastic coloring. One of our favorite pre-made rubs is the Famous Dave's rub which is quite cheap in bulk from Sam's Club but the KIller Hogs stuff takes 1st place in my book. Both rubs have a different flavor to them and the Famous Dave's seems to be a little more salty and spicy whereas the Killer Hogs is a touch more sweet and savory. I will be buying a 5 pound bag as soon as I start to get low and cannot wait to try the Hot BBQ rub from Killer Hogs. Definitely worth a try in my opinion!

Great pulled pork Rub!
Ive used this rub on spare ribs and pulled pork. The first time I put to much on the ribs and it made the bark on the ribs kinda mushy or powdery. The second time I used less and the texture was much better. I think I like it better on the pulled pork. I rubbed the butt with it and after the cook I pulled the pork in a pan and while still hot I tossed more of this rub in and a little left over juice from the butt and it was delicious. Every one loved it!
