Heroes

This an excellent metal album by a fantastic band who deserve more recognition. Sabaton seem to be best at songs about real war heroes. They tell their stories in an interesting, never depressing and often uplifting way. They put everything into this album; the lyrics were carefully chosen and interesting, the songs are the right length and sound fabulous. The ordinary version is absolutely fabulous but the Extra Tracks version of Heroes has two more good songs from earlier, looks just like a hardback book & displays very well. What's also nice is inside the book you get to know a bit about the real heroes who inspired the songs. I appreciate the songs even more now. If you like Sabaton you'll love this. If you don't know Sabaton but you like meaningful lyrics, decent metal music and good vocals then this is ideal for you. This seems to be the perfect metal album as the band performs well, the lyrics are excellent and none of the songs are the same. I highly recommend it to all, even the ballad sounds good.Amazon put all reviews together but it is definitely the Extra Tracks version which I am reviewing. If you already own the original it's up to you whether you need the Extra Tracks version but it's well-worth it if you don't already own it. It has the two extra tracks (7734 & Man of War) which might not be new but are good. However, the best bit for me is that you get to know some about the true heroes and it comes in a good quality, nice-looking book-like case. Please check the track-list and version before ordering to avoid any disappointment.

Crikey, this is a tub thumping chest beater of an album. Proper manly stuff and no room for wimps that's for sure. This is only my second Sabaton album and to be honest the other didn't grab me for whatever reason. However, I have to say that this one has managed to stick itself to my playlist pretty comprehensively over the last few days.As per their other albums the theme is war. Given the human history it allows a large scope for expression and Sabaton seem to be ploughing a good furrow through it. Of course heavy metal does lend itself to the subject perfectly so hardly a surprise there.Sabaton have created a very heavy record that's packed full of catchy chorus's, thundering riffs and tunes that worm into your brain. Singing is suitably forceful but not at all shouty. The singer can hold a note and a tune well with a deep and clear voice.I guess this could almost fall into the 'Power Metal' genre but thankfully avoids the sword and sorcery imagery that other bands use.Simply a great heavy metal album and Sabaton should be justifiably proud of their efforts.

This is a superb album. Until now I'd only heard perhaps one or two Sabaton songs I really enjoyed but this album changed that. Heroes has everything I love in metal music, fantastic lyrics, brilliant music and a singer who is not only excellent but sounds like he's loving every single minute of it.Its album about sacrifice, heroes, famous battles and regiments. It will make your heart swell and your fists clench. I cannot recommend this album more.It has only one negative, in my personal opinion. The Balled of Bull, which is obviously a balled just doesn't work, lyrically its fine but his voice and its slow pace don't suit the rest of the album and its a jarring change from the rest of the relatively fast and exciting tracks.Otherwise though, amazing album.

got this cd in post this morning and it's not been off since! Only recently became familiar with Sabaton - firstly Carolus Rex, which was until today my favourite but Heroes is brilliant! musically great as always but the content of the lyrics is superb - this album definitely stands out ( being a book format slightly larger than regular cd it does this literally as well). In the forward the band state 'Mission Accomplished' - it certainly is .this will be my favourite album for a long time - look forward to their next one but really don't know how they will equal let alone better this one . my advice to anyone reading this is - listen, enjoy and buy . THANK YOU SABATON

There is nothing wrong with this album, a fine almost orchestral metal album, except that it is only 37 mins long! If you like Sabaton you will like this; if you don’t know them then this isn’t a bad place to start.

Powerful melodies, thundering drums and great lyrics. The album deals with military heroes, but the lyricist does not take sides. A hero is a hero even if he fights in a war created by politicians for the wrong reasons. The songs are mostly short and fast, no unnecessary fillings here.The writer clearly has read his military history; the stories are real. As an infantryman (serving in the FDF) my favourite song is, of course, "Soldier Of 3 Armies", about one of our own great warriors: the legendary Lauri Törni aka Larry Thorne. Thanks to Sabaton, no longer an unsung hero. I had never heard of this group before I bought this album, but now I'm a fan.

What you've come to expect from Sabaton. Good solid rock with the songs based in history and telling a story. If you haven't listened to any Sabaton before, this is a good starting point.

Sabatons' latest offering is another fine slice of history in the making for them.To keep it short, song like 'Night Witches', detailing the famous female-led Russian Night Bomber regiment of World War II and the frankly quite brilliant 'To Hell and Back', a song honouring Americas' most decorated soldier, Audie Murphy, will keep you listening to this album for a good long while.it might not be there best album but I still loved it and I await the day Sabaton will come back to the UK for another gig and I will be waiting expectantly for these tracks to blast my eardrums bloody with their sheer brilliance.

The Album title is fitting. If you have never heard of them just check them out on any streaming platform fantastic band worth supporting.

Meine derzeitige Lieblingsnr: Resist and bite. (etwas ironisch da ich zur Zeit an einer Flohplage leide...)40 belgische Soldaten halten der zahlenmässig weit überlegenen Wehrmacht stand, bis die Munition ausgeht, geiler Song. Der wär bei mir Pflichtprogramm für die ukrainischen Soldaten zur Hebung der Kampfmoral. Es ist möglich weit überlegene Gegner zu stoppen, wenn man alles gibt.Oder to hell and back, genial. Oder der Song über den Widerstandskämpfer in Auschwitz, oder das klassische Gitarren Solo beim letzten Song...Auch der Rest gefällt mir sehr gut, nur ein bissl kurz ist das Ganze.
