I would up grade to the next one. But I do like it I've used it on my national park excursions.

I use a Gregory Maya 16 backpack for hiking and this camera holder works perfectly. I love the extra security of the latch for the camera, made me feel that my canon 60d was secure while using the camera. Wore this during a 2 day camping trip, hiking about 10 miles and it was super comfortable and easy to ‘unholster/holster’ camera.

I'm giving this four stars because its definitely a well-designed and solid product for solving the problem of carrying an SLR. That said, I returned it for a couple reasons that may or may not matter to others. The unit is a lot bigger, and more rigid, than it looks. That creates a definite pressure point in where it mounts on a backpack strap. But worse, if you're using something other than a daypack (like an internal frame backpack for "real" backpacking), there's just not a good way to mount it because of that. You can't mount it above the chest strap because its too high, and the camera would (best case) be torquing the strap in an uncomfortable way, but more to the point, it can't meet the kind of curve you have at that point in the strap anyway. Its so large, it won't really fit below the chest strap either, and its hit-or-miss if the support strap would have anywhere to hook onto on a pack. (The unit is supported with a strap that is supposed to attach to the handle of the backpack, to keep it from sliding down.) On the two packs we tested it on -- an REI Flash45 and an Osprey Kyte46 -- there was no way to attach it without interfering at chest level, and no way to support it mounted any lower.The description also suggests it could be used on a belt, but because of its side and rigidity, you'd be banging your thighs on it unless it was on your hip -- where you can't mount things when you have an internal-frame pack, because the hip pads are there.Basically, its a great product if you're throwing it onto a casual backpack to go on a day hike, but not really workable if you're using a larger pack for multi-day hiking.

I was skeptical of the price but I am so glad I bought this. I like to go hiking and this has made carrying a camera along a breeze. It is worth every penny.It takes the strain off of your neck from the camera strap and keeps the camera from bouncing around while I walk. It makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable.I highly recommend it.

Hiked the White Mountains of New Hampshire and had this attached to my Lowepro pack while climbing and hiking some challenging peaks like the Franconia Ridge trail. The strap attached perfectly to my pack and I was very comfortable the entire week. I took one nasty spill and at no time was I worried that my camera would come out of the holster. I like this design better than the harness as I don't have to put on another contraption in addition to my Lowepro pack. This was a little expensive for what it is but I'm very happy that I bought it as trying to hold my camera while climbing and descending with hiking poles would have been a PIA. Great Product

Great system EXCEPT when I decided I wanted the hand strap I found that the velcro system they use to attach it to the camera on the top would not go through the Canon style attach points. I will now have to adapt something if i want to use this "feature"

Works surprisingly well-- the simple twist-and-lift motion gets the camera in my hand every time. I have one on my day-hiking pack, and another on my mountain-biking hydration pack.I have noticed that the locking mechanism will occasionally squeak in the shoulder mount if I'm hiking down rough switchbacks, but that's only happened on a couple of particularly steep trails. Otherwise, the cotton carrier has been flawless.For my hiking/day-pack setup, I'm using a mirrorless camera with a 100-400 lens. When on the bike, I use a much smaller and lighter 55-210 lens; anything heavier might hang down too close to the handlebar when riding aggressively.

Used this to carry another camera body or binoculars when I was on hikes or just to carry another item . Save me from making lens changes in bad weather or in salt air around the ocean Only down side I can think of it was not as good at attaching marine binoculars as with my other binoculars because of their shape. But I still highly recommend it

Lange habe ich überlegt ob dieses Teil Sinn macht und ja es tut. Ich hab‘s an meinem Rucksack montiert damit ich die Hände frei habe wenn ich nicht fotografiere. Die Kamera rutscht gut rein und sitzt nach Dreh schön am Halter und ist zusätzlich gesichert mit einem Gurt falls man mal nicht richtig einhängt. Ich finde ihn praktisch.

ホルスターの体側が硬くて当たり方によっては痛いとかありますが、アプローチがある固定機構と90度回転によるロックが片手でスムーズに着脱できるため撮影機会に瞬時に対応できとても良い。ロックボタンのある他社製品ではこうはいかない。落下対策は周辺の様々は使わずカメラ自体のストラップを首から下げるか別途カラビナで固定して併用。
