Great computer, and it's fast and small.
I love this little computer, I replaced an old iron monstrosity and this works better, takes less power and sits just under my monitor, not on the floor. The EQ has an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 2 RAM Slots, 2 M.2 drive slots. It has 4 USB Ports (3 X 3.0). Power supply is builtin and it is silent (No fan). it is great for most desktop computer needs with 8 cores/16 threads. It came with 24G RAM and 500G M.2 SSD. Get me, this is not a gaming computer but it holds it's own on web and simple games. It comes with Windows 11 and does take a bit of time to setup, all the updates and everything but once you start you can just let it go doing all that. If you need more USB you can do as I did and get a USB 3.0 HUB and plug it into one of the USB 3.0 ports. Great computer and I am very glad I tried it out, no problem at all.

Beelink SER5 Mini-PC
I ordered this as a PC for my parents. The mini form factor was appealing because it fits nicely on their desk. They use it for web browsing and word processing. The specs on this one are: AMD Ryzen 7 5850U (up to 4.4 GHz,8C/16T), 32GB DDR4, 500GB NVMe SSD, triple screen display (HDMI + DisplayPort + USB-C), WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C, Gigabit LAN. I paid $300. I was also looking at two other tiers of mini-PCs. The Intel Twin Lake models seem to be about $150-200, have "Celeron tier" computing power, but also consume very little electricity. These seem to be excellent choices for dedicated home servers or productivity PCs - this probably would have been fine for my application. There are also higher end Ryzen mini-PCs with an "H" in the CPU name. These seem to be more powerful than the "U" CPUs, but also draw substantially more electricity, run hotter / noisier, and are more expensive starting around $400-500. I chose the "Ryzen U" tier because it seemed like a good compromise between the Twin Like and Ryzen H tiers. This is actually quite a capable computer - I think it would be excellent as a primary desktop for the majority of people who aren't into graphically demanding games. It's also worth considering as a portable deskop. If you're going to be using it in multiple locations but solely with a monitor, peripherals, and plugged into a power source, you can get a lot more computer for your buck with one of these than a laptop. Apparently, these mini-PCs can take on some added storage and memory, while a laptop may not be able to. The first thing I did to set up the PC was to wipe Windows and install Ubuntu 24.04 with XFCE. The installation went smoothly without issues. The were no issues setting up the printer, monitor, peripherals, network, or anything else. I didn't notice any issues with the box running hot or loud. The four USB-A ports turned out not to be enough, so I ordered an inexpensive USB hub to pair with it. As long as it continues to work reliably, I would say it is hard to beat the value of this Beelink and similar mini-PCs.

This Mini PC is a Beast - Seriously Impressed!
Okay, so this was a big purchase, so I wanted to do a detailed review. I pulled the trigger on the Beelink SER5 MAX Mini PC with the Ryzen 7, and holy crap, this thing punches way above its weight class. First off, the size is ridiculous. It's tiny, like smaller than a textbook, but it packs a serious kick. Don't let the small footprint fool you; the performance on this is legit. I'm running multiple apps, editing photos, even some light gaming... and I mean light! But it doesn't even flinch. For a mini PC, that Ryzen 7 really shines. What really blew me away was the noise level. Even when it's working hard, it's barely a whisper. My old laptop sounded like a jet engine, so this is a huge upgrade. The computer quality feels super solid too, it's not some flimsy plastic box. This thing is built to last. As for visuals, the screen color output is crisp and vibrant, handles 4K no problem if you've got the monitor for it. And the power consumption is surprisingly low, which is a nice bonus. Means I can leave it running without racking up the electricity bill. If you need a compact powerhouse that just gets the job done without any fuss, seriously consider the Beelink SER5 MAX. It's a five-star win in my book.

DOA again
First off I don't like or generally believe one star reviews. This is going to be the exception. Yes I bought this computer, to replace the Ryzen 5 version of the same make that I have had for the past two years. That one has been a good computer for my accounting business and also served as my stock trading platform with three monitors. Sounds great right? Well not quite. Yes I too had the "loose screw" rattling around after the first two months. Fixed that. About 6 months in the computer would do a random reboot several times a week. Inconvenient, but easily restored in about 5 minutes. I lived with that issue until a few weeks back it rebooted in the middle of a video conference with my CPA boss. Not good to say the least. Enough I said (kinda)! So I decided to buy the same make with the Ryzen 7, the computer you are thinking about now. Sad to say that one never worked out of the box. Hmm from bad to worse it seems. So you are asking what I replaced it with instead? First off I was able to do everything I needed with the Ryzen 5 and for many years everything I've owed from HP, including my 45 year old calculator (HP45) just plain worked. So I found on Amazon a refirb HP EliteDesk 705 35W G4 Desktop Mini PC, AMD Ryzen 5 PRO, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.($195) I also bought 32GB of RAM to upgrade for $50. Everything I do is cloud based so the SSD was fine too. If you are into new only you can find that for around $800. In summary, don't role the dice and purchase a Beelink computer.

Great machine compact size, fast....
I love this machine. It is extremely fast out of the box. I will admit that I increased the RAM and M2 size as well as installed an SSD into this machine and now it is a monster. I use it primarily for streaming movies from my server and have zero issues. It is extremely compact and looks wonderful. Has numerous ports HDMI, USB etc. so you can run this machine as a PC if you so desire. Boot time is with a few seconds. I usually keep this one running 24/7 except for periodically rebooting it for updates, etc.

Excellent mini PC
At first, some windows updates refused to install, but after updating everything in the microsoft store and in windows update with a reboot or 2 in between, it managed to install everything automatically. This is a fine mini pc for home use (and very basic gaming), but do note this is a very outdated cpu. The memory is DDR4, and both memory and hard drive storage can be expanded (I didn't, but know it is possible). It works well as a decent mini pc for home usage and is relatively quiet (but not as quiet as the newer ser8 models) and is a recommended purchase. 1 star off for using a 3 year old cpu in a currently sold device.

It runs server setups amazingly
I purchased this little thing to run a home server off and some game servers for friends so they don't have to pay third party companies to run them anymore. Out of the box it was running windows 11 no problems though I opted to wipe out the windows 11 OS with a fresh Debian install to run CasaOS and AMP off of. Not a single hiccup so far, multiple servers tested on it the heaviest was an All the Mods Minecraft server which this thing crushed with it's eyes closed. Currently it's running a Terraria Calamity server as well as my home automation in various Docker containers and honestly, it might be overkill on the CPU it's running ice cold, absolutely zero fan noise and across the entire system I'm eating up about 4 gigs of the 32 gigs of ram and about 6% of the CPU total. I'm planning to put this thing through it's paces with multiple game servers running at once in the future, but so far this little thing is a beast and I got it on sale for about $299. Honestly if you want to dabble with home servers or self-hosted dedicated game servers give this little baddass a shot. Granted we've only been up and running three days but three continuous days of load and internet traffic and there isn't been a single issue. All in all I can suggest this little beast, stick it in a corner, give it an ethernet connection and let it do it's thing.

Fantastic!
Bought to replace an old HP Mini PC. This system is great, Quiet, Fast, Small footprint. I am more than pleased with this unit. And at a great price point. I don't care much for the Windows 11 Pro that comes preinstalled so I imaged the original disk (Just in case I decide to go back). Installed Linux Mint 22 and it is much better now. Get one you won't regret it.

Excelente!
