Great little DRO
I ordered this one to try on my small South Bend lathe. It works great, and I will be ordering a longer version of this for the lathe, and will put this one on my drillpress. The only thing is that it does not shut off by itself, which because of what it is for you would think that makes sense, but it really should have an auto off after say, 1-2 hours of no movement. It is an absolute scale, so it remembers where it was/is, so that is really not a problem. Other than that little issue, it is working great so far.

Very high quality DRO
This DRO is the best I have seen. So far, testing by hand before installation on my router lift, it has been dead on for the full range of over 6.5 inches travel. AccuRemote has excellent customer service. I have called them several times before ordering and once after receiving it. They always answered immediately and had all the answers to my questions. This DRO states it is for a lathe use. It will mount on my Jessem Rout-R-Lift II with only having to cut off a bit of the flat rail. Unlike the other DRO I sent back, this rail is almost 12" in length, with the sensing unit (large size) requiring the 12" length. My router uses about 3-3.5 inches of travel. Accu Remote gave me tips for cutting the rail and no issues with warranty if needed. The unit is quite sturdy and the sensor unit fits tight on the rail, unlike others I have. Over time I will replace the old DRO's with AccuRemotes. I recommend this company and the DROs they make. You will not be disappointed.I found it unnecessary to cut the bar; a really good thing since I would have had to use a hack saw. Hack saws and stainless steel bars do not work well together. I will take a few pictures and upload of the install. Can't say enough good about this DRO: heavy duty, most accurate, relatively easy to install using a bit of imagination and drilling one small hole in the lift for the sliding mounting bracket.More to come...

Not As Good As I First Thought
I reviewed this a couple of days ago and gave this great reviews. Well, I guess I jumped the gun. After really putting this to the test up against a Starrett dial indicator, I find that for ever .050 on the dial indicator, the DRO is .001 off. At .100 it is nearly .002 off. Also, if you try to creep up on your intended target, the digital does not move immediately and then it jumps as much as .0015 over. I cut a piece of aluminum using only the digital, taking off .010 to .025 cuts at a time. Each time I would mic the piece only to find it over cut each time. To test my dial indicator, I repeated the same test and the piece measured out dead nuts to what the dial indicator said. My recommendations now, if you desire accuracy, then look else where but not this one. It would be good for rough cutting but when you get down to the final cuts, you had better be using your trusted dial indicator. This one is priced cheap. Now I know why.

Works really well.
These are simple readouts, but totally adequate for most purposes. They have survived six weeks with seventy students, and have not had one issue. They can be a little hard to see unless you are careful to position them to avoid glare from overhead lights, but that is easily taken care of with a simple tilted bracket.

If you get a good one, they are great for the home workshop
If you get a good one, they are great for the home workshop. They are a little slow to respond, so go slow as you approach your destination, but they hold position and always read the same when your machine has a mechanical stop in place, if you get a good one. The real problem with these is the quality control. Out of 4 units, only 2 work reliably. The other 2 have a problem of randomly jumping .200" repeatedly. 50% failure rate is waaaaay too high. It's too bad, because this could be a very nice product.

Excellent way to add a DRO to your tool.
Don't buy the cheaper scales! If you are using a larger mill or tool, you will want these stainless steel high accuracy scales. The cheaper ones have many more glitches. There are instructions available via google to make these scales into a very nice DRO with an android tablet as the display.
