Q: Does it just make noise

If you don't load it with paper roll caps, then pulling the trigger just makes it strike (a nice metal on metal click). If you load it with caps, then it's like an old fashion cap gun.

Q: What caps does it use? 8 or 12?

it shoots single shots (1 separate shot at a time.) IT DOESN'T EVEN USE RING CAPS AT ALL!!
