3M Filtrete Anti Pollution Filter for converting AC into air purifier (White, 2 Pieces)

I use this product since 1 year I have fitted it on my carrier 1.5 ton split ac and it works perfect , you can feel the purity of air and I get it replaced when the ac indoor unit founds it hard to flow air , and starts flapping, u can hear the sound , it is the time to replace normally I require to replace it in 2 months , but it is cost effective as it fits in my existing ac and I have diverted my mind in not to go for air purifiers which are costly 10k+ and regular costly filter change , u can subscribe and get it more cheaper approx 5rs /day is not cost to worry to breathe easy , excellent product from 3 M

Installation - Installed within my Hitachi window AC since 2 weeks now. Though designed for a split AC, it fitted my window AC perfectly (refer images) - I did not even have to cut or resize it in any manner (gaps left at both sides for airflow as is recommended). The pack comes with two filters, I have only used one Performance - Note that I installed it behind my regular AC filter (and not in front of it), meaning that it is catching substances that have passed through the regular AC filter. In only 2 weeks the 3M filter has turned largely black (refer images) - the white lines are where the regular AC filter is shielding the 3M filter and hence where it has retained its original white colour. FYI I live in Kolkata on a relatively quiet dead-end residential street 1. The AC output drops slightly - in my case its been small and acceptable. Could however irritate you if your AC is particularly old/weak, or during peak summer months (am currently using it in September in Kolkata) 2. For the brutal pollution during winter months in most Indian cities, there is no way this product can match stand alone air purifiers - while its capturing all this 'black', the drop in pollution per my air quality meter is not as fast or strong as an air purifier would be 3. My big issue with this product though is its life. On the one hand am happy that it captures all this dirt but on the other hand am unsure how effective it will be after 1-2 weeks once it has turned this black In summary, it is definitely not a replacement for air purifiers during winter months. Not very worthwhile for the rest of the year too unless you do not own an air purifier or have packed it away, and install this in your AC so that you get slightly cleaner air at the same time as you are using your AC

Its a good product but dont last more than a month

I purchased this type of product for the first time. The difference is huge when compared to simple AC filter and the addon AC filter. The dust collected on the 3M filters speaks for itself. I have cleaned it once and still using it. However, I do not recommend cleaning and reuse. Though expensive, during this pandemic, it helps you be safe at home. AC would run for most of the time (nearly 10-15hrs a day) With this much usage, the product really is worth spending for. I have avoided an air purifier because of this.

Converting AC to Air Purifier sounds very exciting, but the reality is quite different. Let me summarize the points here: Good: - Quality is probably too good for an AC Bad: - Extremely over priced - This filter is too tight (smaller pores compared to the standard mesh that comes with AC) for the AC air to pass through. Well, that may be good for Air Purifier. But here the AC (I am using a Hitachi) is trying its best to bring the temperature down of the room, whereas this filter is blocking the airway. So, as a net result - AC is working extra hard to pass the cool air & pushing the compressor over time. I noticed an average 60-80% extra time being required for the AC to provide cooling (& hence extra effort, additional electricity). Conclusion: - If you are not bothered about electricity consumption, go ahead & use it. - This may give you peace of mind of cleaner air, but probably at the cost of AC wear & tear. - But I am not going to waste money of these anymore.

I really admire this product living in polluted city like Delhi. This fits perfectly well on your split AC and installation is very easy. I have also used the other brand available called Health Innovative Air Bliss Health Innovative Airbliss - Convert Your AC Into An Air Purifier but found this 3M one better in terms of usage and performance. The main reason I like this one more is because of the following reasons: 1. The filter is thin and easy to fit. It comes with their own tape and you have to just stick them as per the manual provided. Installation took 10 minutes. 2. I must say it performs well because within 2 weeks I could see the filter became dark black with all the particulate matters on it. The native dust filter of AC was not affected much. Conclusion: I have used this on split AC, and I think this is the best product you can buy for cleaning the air if you do not have an air purifier. Highly recommended.

Great product and works really well to filter off minute particles, dust and pollution. The only downside is that it gets completely choked within a week to 10 days and isn’t reusable after a wash. Being as expensively priced, it doesn’t make sense buying 3-4 sets a month. The company can easily bring down the price to less than a quarter considering the material used isn’t too costly, but it’s 3M so that’s really not happening unless some of the Indian companies start to manufacture and sell the same for a much lesser price.
