TL-WN821N 300 MBPS WiFi WI-FI Wireless N USB Adapter, MIMO, WPS Button, Supports Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7/XP, Mac OS 10.15 and earlier, Linux

Purchased the USB Wi-Fi receiver for Rs 750. It's a 300N receiver and with my router set to N mode only, the wi-fi reception is great. It's way better then the china made, indian branded once. Although TP-Link is china based, but due to the brand name, quality in manufacturing is ensured and that adds to good user experience. Inside the box you get the Wi-Fi receiver, a regular USB-USB male-female cable, use manual, quick start guide & resource CD. The top surface of receiver is glossy and the edges are rounded, so it's comfortable to hold in the hand. The built quality is robust and there is no rattling while inserting it into the usb port. There is also a physical WPS button in the side of the device. I plugged it in to win 7/8/8.1 & it's a auto plug & play. However if you try it on laptops, you will see network names as Wi-Fi 1 & Wi-Fi 2. So to solve this remove the device from your laptop and then access internet using the inbuilt wi-fi card of the laptop. Then go to Network & Sharing settings and click on change adapter settings. There look for the wi-fi icon, right click on it and click disable. Now plug in the wi-fi receiver and connect to network. Go to the above path and you will see a new wi-fi icon on the adapter settings. Right click on it and rename it to be USB-Wi-Fi. In this way you can easily determine which network you are connected and can easily toggle between networks.

This is a big plus as it is easy plug in and use, add to it the good sober design. Build Quality: The build quality is undoubtedly superb. Just no qualms about that, at all. When held, it doesnt give off that cheap and flimsy product-like feeling. It is good sturdy with its build quality. Packaging: This part is also a big plus as the item was well cushioned and packaged with all the necessary items that ensured that no damage could have been caused to the product during transportation. This ensures that I as a customer have received something not damaged internally already. Software: This is actually good but not great part with the product. The good part is that a CD has been provided with it along with a manual. The not great part is that NO LINUX SUPPORT has been given from Version 2 onwards. This is bad, really. Speed: It easily supports net speeds upto 300 Mbps. Practically speaking, I have tested it at my home and it easily supports net speed of over 100-150 Mbps without a sigh. On testing I found that it did connect to 5GHz network, without any issue. Connectivity: Please mark its not feet its metres. Multiply metres x 3 to get the distance in feet. It easily connects to my laptop or phone from 7 metres across one room. So thats 21 feet. I mean even our old bluetooth used to connect to about 15 ft. So 20-25 feet is not at all an issue with this. This is the big plus I found with the product. Experience: From this point of view, so far except the linux non-compatibility issue, I found no other flaws with this product. So overall its a great product. Warranty: Its 3 years so I am assured that atleast for 3 years I am tension-free and not just 1 year, contrary to most electronic items today that only provide 1 year warranty with their items.

First was was using Tp link nano adapter but it got broken. Now i am using this Adapter. This was a awesome wifi adapter and Compatible with my pc. it was havind a wide range better than old nano adapter. And was giving good speed than old. If anyone wants to purchase this device you can purchase this. It values for money

The USB WiFi adapter I purchased has been faulty from day one. It fails to detect my home WiFi despite multiple attempts. When I tried to initiate a replacement, I was surprised to find that replacement is not enabled, and instead, I was asked to take it to a service center. This is highly disappointing—if the product is defective from the start, why advertise a 10-day replacement policy? The experience has been frustrating, and I would not recommend this product.

Awesomly working. I checked in tplink website where this device was "hot selling" and not to b surprised it works like a charm. Used for over 15 hours everyday for continous 2 months.. ll give download of 7 to 8 movies or songs and will sleep.. till next day it will b running and without much heating.. Pros. light weight cool no disconnecting problems atall well maintained website by tplink to get latest drivers plug and play cons. too big to b connected all time green light flashing always may b a prob in nights cannot tether as hotspot for wifi for ma mobile - "actually am from one of d best centrally funded colleges in india where d network s monitored n so the internet s cyberoam protected" if at home i connect ma laptop to lan cable then tethered wifi for ma mobile. not to forget d packaging by d seller and delivery by the amazon.. everything gave a whole satisfaction.. 5 stars. sold by RIEPL seller for INR 670

*MASSIVE WARNING FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO BUY THIS PRODUCT* i rated it 3 stars only because of the trouble i had to go through to get the correct drivers installed With the wrong drivers (given in the CD-they're older) i got only a 0.5mbps connection on a 50mbps network. I then used Windows' update driver feature from device manager and still no luck with the udpated driver. After a lot of searching around i went to the tp link site and then on checking the label on the network adapter it said US/V6 This had separate drivers on the site which was not installed by the provided CD or Windows.(EU drivers gave slow speeds as well) After installing these drivers, the device worked as intended. This was the case with my desktop computer, but when i tried to configure the adapter on my laptop (also Windows 10 x64) it worked with the drivers that Windows installed itself (plug and play basically). Although these drivers were different from the one on the site(there was no 2016 version on the site) , they still worked. On the laptop the windows update installed a 2016 driver (which i was not able to install on my PC for some reason) While the latest version from the site was a 2019 version. So make sure to check the region (US/EU) of the adapter you recieve and install appropriate drivers. This may not be the case for everyone as can be seen with other reviews, but if you encounter extremely slow speeds, try installing the correct drivers from the tplink site. Additionally, it does not connect through 5g channel. Only 2.4Ghz is detected.

The Linux drivers are outdated, dating back to 2018 with no subsequent updates, which causes compilation errors on modern systems. For current Kernel 6.x versions, you'll need to obtain updated drivers for the rtl8192EU chipset from Git repositories. The installation process is straightforward, requiring only 2-3 steps and approximately 10 minutes including compilation and setup time. While the adapter functions properly once the drivers are installed, its performance is mediocre.
