Could not have asked for a better product !!! Earlier I had Portronics Soundpot which forced me to buy a portronics speaker only and I bought this one. So I bought this speaker in 2020 and I used it till 2025 with some minor repairs. For 5 years this speaker was with me from long bike rides to lonely nights and it never disappointed me. Also at one point all of my friends were also amazed with the performance and they couldn't have missed it presence because first it used to be with me all the time and second because of its performance. The sound, base, treble, vocals everything was above my expectations and due to the double speaker it gave a stereo sound. The battery life was amazing in the starting 3 years after that it declined a little bit but that was alright. Compatibility: It is compatible with every device 👍🏻 If you're planning to buy this go ahead don't think twice.

I was looking for a "practical" speaker to accompany my new PC. I was looking for the wired ones, but the quality ones were costly at the >2000 range and I was not willing to shell out that much amount. And upon that I was planning to shift my PC to my new office away from my home. So buying wired speakers was not practical. I was planning to cancel the purchase but the list of blue tooth speakers lured me again, primarily because I was listening to lot of music and YouTube videos using my mobile head phones and my ears were feeling the pain literally. The most important factor was I was listening to BBC Radio and I was looking for a replacement for the mobile headphones. I came across the name Portronics but as I was not familiar with the name, I was planning to zero in on the Sony Extra Bass speaker which looks the same like the Sound Drum. The price was almost double. I had to change my mind after one of the sales men in a leading mobile store in Cochin recommended me Portronics. I looked for the reviews both in Amazon and YouTube and all the reviews were in favor of Portronics. The Sound Drum reached me in 5 days, a bit longer than F'kart. Please note the price was around 400 bucks less than F'Kart! The Sound Drum will amaze you with its size. Less than 9.5 CM in height and around 9 CM in width. Better quality videos and sound files will need only 50% of your mobile's volume bar. As the size is small you can't expect the same quality of sound which comes from a very big sound system. Even then, if you keep the Sound Bar at the center of your hall, it will suffice the sound requirement of your entire household! It is loud enough for the entire house! (My home has 3 rooms, one medium sized hall, a medium sized dining room and a medium sized kitchen -all under 800 sq.ft). The best part is the portability of the Sound Drum when paired with your mobile phone. When I am writing this, my mobile is put on charge in the hall and I am sitting in my room. When my phone rings, I CAN ANSWER THE CALL WITHOUT RAISING FROM MY SEAT!!! All I have to do is press the Play button on the Sound Drum (the one between the + and - buttons); and I can answer the call facing the Sound Drum as it is equipped with a mic. Don't ask me how to make a call; obviously you have to go near your phone. They are providing a USB cable for charging. You can connect it to any USB mobile charger. As I have a Motorola Quick Charger, I charged the Drum for around 5 hours. Anyway the user manual is not very clear about the charging. When I contacted Portronics (chat is available on their website), the reply I got is that we can use any mobile charger. I have connected the Drum to my PC using the USB cable; I don't know whether it is good for the battery's health. I can't comment on the battery life. I haven't checked it as the Drum is always connected to the PC. Reviews say that it can last 6-7 hours. There is FM, but tuning FM is tedious. I didn't waste my time setting it up. I am using FM apps on mobile. Anyway, if you are looking for a good quality blue tooth speaker, Portronics Sound Drum is a good choice. The build quality is good. The speaker doesn't move when I put it on high volume. Make sure that the surface is not too smooth. I hope the Sound Drum will last longer. I can't predict it. This is my first time using a Portronics product. What the company offers is extra 2 months warranty, if you register on their website immediately after the purchase. My primary usage : Listening to BBC World Radio: download the BBC I Player Radio App. Listening to online FM radio: I am using All India Radio Live app. There are a lot of FM apps. Choose the best one. ------------------------------------------- Update after two weeks : you can't control volume, touching + or - on the speaker; they are meant for playback control only. You have to use your mobile or PC yo change volume. You can connect it easily with a PC via Bluetooth; if your PC doesn't have Bluetooth, buy a Bluetooth adapter. I bought one from Amazon itself which is working good. Don't know the reason. Some apps like Amazon Prime Music gives good volume. I read a general opinion (not specific to this device) that connecting with an AUX cable will solve the problem. I haven't checked it. Anyway, not a drawback. You need to be close to the Sound Drum and in level with the mic to answer mobile calls. I've been using this speaker for over 2 years now. It's absolutely unbelievable how much value for money this tiny speaker packs. The sound quality is good and batter is very long lasting. For 1500 bucks you get good quality 10 W Bluetooth speaker that has a woofer, is water proof, have a 8+hr battery life, can connect to your device via aux cable, or also connect to pendrives or SD card readers, it has an inbuilt radio that works like a charm in outdoor conditions plus it can be used as a powerbank to charger your phones via a USB cable. I've been using it for more than two years and I'm absolutely happy with this product. Don't think just buy it. You can also buy multiple sounddrum and connect them together via cable and use them as a single speaker unit. Features are absolutely crazy for this price point.

Pros: 1. Excellent clarity of sound. It is amazing to have such a sound quality from such a small device. My friend has Bose SoundLink Color II 752195-0100 Bluetooth Speakers (Now Rs. 9200 in amazon). Though it is unfair to compare Portronics with Bose speakers, I was surprised to note that Portronics sound quality is no less than that of Bose. High pitch sound clarity and voice clarity are excellent 2. If you disconnect bluetooth from mobile and go to sleep, after some time Sounddrum automatocally switches off. So if the device is kept away, you do not have to physically move. 3. Start up audio voice indicator "Power on", "Power off", "Bluetooth mode" etc is good because you do not have any LED indicator to get feedback once you press and hold the main power on button. 4. The connection to the device from mobile is extremely simple and quick. Unlike Bose speaker, it does not require installation of any app, password verification etc. Just put on bluetooth in your device and scan for bluetooth device around. It shall find "Sound Drum" and pair it. You may have multiple bluetooth devices paired with your mobile. Press paired "Sound Drum" and it shall connect with a voice feedback from Sound Drum. Next time onwards, you need not pair, but simply click to paired "Sound Drum" from your mobile. 5. The size is small. Cylindrical dia 7.5 cm x height 10 cm around. Hence it occupies small area when place somewhere, and very easy to carry from one place to another. Cons: 1. Power ON button is little bit hard. Many times, I kept on pressing more than 10 sec, but it did not start. Then, I realized it has to be pressed with little bit greater force. 2. Battery: Though current battery power is good, but I am concerned about long term sustainibility of this product, in case your rechargeable battery gets exhausted after some time. I wrote to the customer support. They informed that the availability of spare battery depends on whether the product would be available at that point of time. It cannot be guaranted. 3. Bass is not so great.

Great sound with nice base, 1 thing i like about it, that it's premium look and sound. It's much portable and also it offers good quality sound to us. And also, delivery was faster than I expected by seller "Appario Retail Private Ltd. Bangalore" Pros :- 1) Very portable to carry anywhere . 2) Has good sound and also have good base. 3) Have premium look and feel like JBL,but please do not compare its sound with JBL. 4) 360 surround sound. 5) Definitely better than other speakers in this price range . 6) Best battery backup upto 7 hours at 80-90% volume & 15-18 hours of backup at 60-70% volume. 7) Much louder than expected. Cons :- 1) No aux cable provided like other brands. 2) Slight distortion occurs at 100% volume, specially during songs having heavy bass, so you have to keep its volume about 80-90% which is also much loud for an average large size rooms. 3) It's slightly dust magnet, so dust get attached to it's rubber surface. Overall this is an worth for money product....... Tip :- For better sound experience use the corners of wall (put this sound drum near/at the corners of wall) which enhances sound and it doesn't required extra or more power. This trick will only work for a rooms which are either small or medium sized. So in this way you can save energy and and also enjoy your songs on this "Tiny Power House."

This is my take on the Portronics SoundDrum POR-871. If I have to describe this Bluetooth speaker in one line, I would say it is not worth 1.6k or 1.8k (based on the usual price variation). First let me take you through the Pros. PRO's 1. Good sound quality, the mids and lows are really good but the highs could have been a slightly better. You will enjoy watching movies and listening to music with this for sure. 2. Good build quality and materials used for the exterior. The mesh texture of the speaker feels good to hold. 3. Battery backup is decent enough. 4. This is a waterproof bt speaker which is an added advantage, but I personally haven't put mine into such a test. CONs 1. The Volume level doesn't raise in a linear way when connected to a laptop or pc. The loudness will have a sudden shift from one level to another in certain points of the volume settings, like the loudness will be mild at 40 but will burst out in 42 and will stay that way until 50. This inconsistency of loudness makes it look like some cheap quality product. 2. The rubber cap or closing for the charging and other input area could have been more flexible to open and close or could have been detachable, everytime when I try to open it to charge this thing, I feel like I may tear it off accidentally someday. 3. This is a BIG NO if you are choosing this speaker for Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Zoom or for any calls for work from home purposes, as the speaker would turn off in the first few mins of the call, which is seriously such an annoying thing when you have paid more the 1.5k for a bt speaker and doesn't let us attend to calls. 4. No type-C charging when the whole world of tech and gadgets are shifting towards it. 5. I have faced bluetooth connectivity issues for a couple of times even when listening to music, but somehow it didn't repeat after that which is weird again. 6. The battery level of the device is indicated only in three values that is 100%, 70% (most seen value) and 40% when I have this thing paired to my laptop. The sound quality will be pathetic once it goes below 40% without any notice which again show the poor quality of the product. You do get a warning saying low battery only when it is litreally about to die. And my verdict at last is I got this product based on my previous purchase of a portronics bt speaker which was really good and did last me for more that 3 years for just 900 bucks. But this isn't not worth all the hype and sure it isn't worth 1.6k - 1,8k. It is a good speaker if it is provided for 1k - 1.3k max and could be provided without an option of a mic as they can't be utlized for any calls. I am having this beacuse I missed my window of oppertunity to return this product, but sure it is a decent bt speaker for listening music and watching movies if thats what you are just looking for.

Very bad Bluetooth speaker. It stops working while playing music and is not reliable at all. I am really disappointed with the product quality. Also, there is no proper support—no refund or replacement option available. Not recommended.
