I’d heard and read here and there that batana oil—which is extracted from the nuts of Central and South American palm trees—is a nourishing moisturizer from hair. It’s also supposed to promote hair growth and strength. My hair tends to be dry, so I thought I’d give this SAHAK raw batana oil a try, hoping it would be a good moisturizer. I’m pleased with the results after two uses. Before washing my hair, I massage the oil into my hair and scalp, and then let it rest for 30 minutes. Then I rinse the hair under hot water in the shower, shampoo, rinse and I’m done (when I use the oil, I forego my usual conditioner). I could tell the difference on the first use—after drying, my hair was shinier and a lot less fly-away. I wash my hair approximately every other day. My plan is to use the batana oil once a week, and simply use shampoo and conditioner the rest of the time. I didn’t order this batana oil for hair growth, but as I use it I’ll see if it works for that. Either way, I’ll report back here in a couple of months for an update. If I feel that the batana oil has encouraged hair growth, I’ll bump this review up to 5 stars. One last thing I should mention: batana oil has a distinctive and strong scent, unlike anything I’ve ever come across. It’s not unpleasant, but neither is it pleasing. I’ve never used batana before and I guess this is just how it smells. I’m hoping I get used to it.

For best results, make sure to follow the instructions by massaging it into your scalp and hair for a good 5 minutes. The product also has a distinctive, yet pleasant aroma that’s hard to pin down but quite enjoyable.

I’ve been trying out Batana oil and castor oil lately, I found that I much prefer Batana oil due to the lighter texture and smell of the oil. This Batana oil is easy to spread over your skin, not as greasy as some of the other oils. However, I don’t believe in the much hyped benefits of hair regrowth. There’s no scientific studies to prove it, and the pictures depicting hair regrowth are all fakes. That’s why it’s a 3-star review for this product. Nevertheless I do like it when used as a skin moisturizer for my hands and feet. I do feel that my skins become soft & smooth after applying the oil. Of course, once the oil is washed off from your skin the effect will disappear. This is only a temporary solution for dry skins; the oil doesn’t alter your skin’s makeup. However, due to this is a single ingredient (pure) product, it’s easy for me to tell if my skin ever has allergic reaction to it. This is important to people with sensitive skin like me. Therefore, if you set your expectation right, you may like this product.
