First, the vendor. I’ve seen these complaints elsewhere. The packaging came such that the brim had folds. Annoying, but the hat recovered on its own. Plus, the vendor sent Khaki and I clearly ordered Olive. I did not send it back because I needed it and I had an event that was too soon for return turnaround. Khaki looks good too. Perhaps this was even a blessing. Not sure.Test one. I am a crew (rowing) coach. There were two full sunny weekends in Sarasota Florida that I needed this hat for. The wind clearly tested both the fit and the strap. The fit, I would have ordered an eighth smaller. It’s good, but I think it could be better. When I take the strap out of the flap inside the hat, I wish it were tighter. At the events, I once again failed to put sunscreen on my face at these two events. The hat did it’s job admirably. Not even a hint of sun issues.Plus, my kids all started calling me Indiana Jones. This is when I noticed that halfway thru the first weekend, the shipping folds in the brim disappeared.Test one verdict is a solid success. This is my new coaching hat. I started using it on the water in the coaches launch too.Test two was golf. I have been using baseball hats forever for golf, and they don't protect my ears. I’ve always been annoyed by other hats because they get in the way of my swing and they get hot. Not this one. The strap doesn’t even annoy me on windy days, which has been a huge problem with other hats like this. Plus, my friends all liked the look. And when their wives also like it, winner.Test three: Yosemite National Park. This trip is why I investigated this hat to begin with. My trip was in late May 2021 and we expected sun and mild wind. Requirements matching my crew coach needs: sun and wind. Sometimes life gets in the way. This is not even close to what happened. The week before we arrived, the lows were 40+ and highs were near 70. We showed up, low 25 to high of 50 depending on where in the park we were. Zero sun until the last day. Fog. Rain. Snow. Sleet. Harder snow. More snow. On my hikes, even with AllTrails we couldn’t find some of the paths because of the fresh snow. On one hike we got above the clouds and briefly found sun. Snow and sleet never did make my head wet. Snow collected on the brim and melted off. Never got wet. Wind kicked up, sideways snow, sideways hail. The strap worked like a champ and took seconds to deploy. It did not annoy me. Wind goes away and seconds to hide it again. Others in my group had their heads get soaked. Not me. They were changing hats or hoodies while I kept this. And it still looked good for dinner and kept my head warm on the walk thru town.I will almost certainly treat this hat over time with water repellant. Other than that, solid, solid performance.New to Tilley. Getting one for my wife. Probably a life long customer.

I’ve been looking for a summer hat that fits, is durable, and stylish. This is perfect for my needs. I wear it working in the yard, going hiking, of simply walking the dog. It works to keep this sim off of my bald head, and the rain off of my glasses all while looking great on my head.

Very light, looks good, but I wouldn’t buy another. Can’t believe these used to be $100 It’s made of durable material I guess that’s why

My understanding was that this hat would be cool on warm days. I purchased two of these hats for backpacking. Because they were so hot on our heads, we wore them very little on our first time out. We haven't worn them since. What a waste, since they're not cheap. We replaced the Tilley's with lightweight poly baseball caps. They are great. They quickly evaporate your sweat and cool your head. The only time I would ever consider wearing the Tilley would be in cold but sunny weather. The hats are well made but not very stylish (in my opinion). They make you look like a North American tourist.

Bought to wear on my caribbean honeymoon and it was a life saver. Lightweight, dried fast, drawstrings to hook under my chin so it didn't blow away while boating, and it was extremely comfortable to wear all day.The only hard part is getting the perfect size. Most sporting goods stores around me had a very slim selection of Tilley hats, but they had enough for me to try on and get my size. Snug enough to stay on but look enough to not irritate me after wearing it for 6 hours straight.I've recommended these hats to everyone who asks, I'd buy another Tilley in a heartbeat!

My son (a very particular man) requested this as a Christmas gift. Grinned all over when he opened gift. He now has two. Practically lives on the golf course when weather permits. Brim wide enough to shade the sun. Fit, if you follow instructions, keeps hat from blowing off in wind and if necessary, a chin strap also available. Light weight and dries quickly. Doesn’t lose its shape if something laid on top of it. His words: Best thing since sliced bread!

This is the most comfortable sun hat I have ever owned. I following the sizing guidelines to determine my size and it fits great. It is well made and looks it will last a lifetime.

I bought this hat because I have had Tilley hats before and have really liked them. After looking at a previous hat and this one, I noticed this hat was MADE IN CHINA. $73 for a China hat! I think I will send it back.
