Don't forget to perform Extended SMART test
(Refer Cons for a very important thing to perform on these HDD as soon as you receive them though that test would take about 11-12 Hours but you will be sure your Data is safe)Update: Empty/Brand-New HDD with no data should take only about 4 Hours for test to complete (1 Hour per 1TB), if HDD is completely full(data) then it would take about 11-12 hours to complete the test.Would suggest to run test after filling it up completely. Also, don't move the HDD while its running and dropping it from height can damage it .. Head could hit the platter leading to Physical Bad Sectors and Data Loss. (Minor Safety Measures)Pros:1. Transfer Rates (About 115 MB/s Reads and about 90-110 MB/s Write Speeds | Also reads/writes depends on how data is on the HDD Fragmented or Defragmented)2. Looks Good from outside3. Capacity of about 3.63 TB Usable.4. Cheapest option in India if you want to store large amount of data at a low price/don't want an Internal Drives/NAS Drives which you can access anytime, factors why would you prefer this over NAS/Internals: Power outages & you don't have power backup(assuming you have a laptop), want to save 2-3k INR.(You can buy a number of these)5. 3 years Warranty from the Date of purchase (Make sure to head to the WD website and register you product)Cons:- I wanted to give this My Passport HDD a 2 Star, but cannot let my personal experience to affect this drive.... (But don't know if its just me with this kind of unfortunate experience)- I Bought two 4TB WD My Passports from Amazon in a span of 2 months...- And it took me about 1 Month 26 Days to fill up 4TB..- After which i realized one of my HDD had Bad Sectors... and i lost about 64GB of data due to it- And then while i was creating a RMA on WD Website...- I thought lets run the SMART Extended Test on my another healthy My Passport HDD and i was suprised my 2nd HDD had Bad Sectors as wellHow to perform this Test which checks for Bad Sectors/Phyically Damaged Sectors:1. Download :Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic from WD Website2. Install, Connect your My Passport HDD, Launch the program.3. Double click(left click) your My Passport Drive from the list of drives.4. A Menu pops-up, Click Extended Test. Another pop-up will appear Click OK. ( Make sure no program is using your My Passport HDD)5. Let it run would take about 11-12 Hours to complete and if it finds too many Bad Sectors Program will abort with error.(If you have some different error you can google "Data Lifeguard Diagnostics Error Code List" and find what kind of error you are getting..)6. If It aborts you know you need to Return the drive or you need to get it replaced under warranty.

Drive failure, data loss and RMA. The failure of WD quality checks.
I bought my last WD Elements more than a year ago. It was an orange coloured 4TB drive. I took it out of its sealed pack just this week in order to transfer my data backups. After copying around 200GB of data, the drive suddenly became unresponsive and froze my computer. Now it has become unreadable, no pc can read it, not even WD's own diagnostic software. It was never manhandled, dropped or exposed to any extreme conditions. It just died. Now I have submitted an RMA request and will be sending this drive for replacement (at my own cost). I will get a refurbished drive with 90 day warranty in exchange for my new 4TB (which cost me over 9,000 rupees btw). Of course, I have lost all my data and now have to deal with the RMA process. This is the state of WD in India. You pay for a new drive, it dies and you lose your data, your time and your money, ultimately left with a refurbished drive and the feeling of being cheated.I don't even know why I'm getting this drive replaced because the next one could fail just as easily and destroy more of my data. This will be the last time that I buy anything from WD. If you plan to buy this then I hope you have better luck than I did.

Good 4TB Drive
I have taken the 4TB Passport. It is a good buy. I am happy with Amazon's service. The first drive was faulty. It had lot of bad sectors. Amazon quickly replaced the unit. Thanks Amazon. It is really important that you run diagnostics to check bad sectors. I used Data Lifeguard as recommended by Western Digital to run diagnostics. It took over 2 days to run the extended test but it's worth to know the drive is good. Hope this feedback is useful to all.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Large storage space, portability, availability, I can now dump all my stuff comes thru Whats up/facebook/Youtube backups/family photos & Videos/all important files & folders. Now my Laptop is free from burdon of getting full, I transfer all files after its use for backup in My passport Storage device. I create Videos & post in Youtube, once it is done, I store it in My passport for future reference. It is giving me good performance, it suits perfectly for my functioning.

Internaly physically damaged
Appario retail private limited is selling hard disks which have internal physical damage. Disk will work initially but will give up at any momentPlease do not buy.I ordered and returned and reordered and all the three times I received a defective hard drive.PS: there were heating issues and there were ticking sounds when hard drive was connected to my PC.

Bad Experience from Day 1
bought 4TB WD passport on 31/01/2019. Transferred 20 GB of photos and videos few days back after which it started freezing my laptop. I had to unplug multiple times, each time when plugged causing the system to freeze.Tried running WD Lifeguard Diagnostics to erase disk after which it had stopped working. Now it is no longer recognisable by any medium. I have created an RMA with WD, hopefully they replace it with a better one.WD - your product gave issues at the very first month, how can one trust loading their entire backup and expect your products to preserve it for longer duration ?!!!!
