Received: jan 30 2018 till now march 1 2018.... Thriving, great little trees.Do your research before purchasing +April 2018 updt
(First 6 photos are from the end of jan 2018 the last two pictures are march 2018 and I have cut back branches and pruned bi weekly) .I received the Chinese elm in good condition but I did notice small pest on the trunk of the tree. I asked about a refund b/c I didn't see any of the pests dying after treating it with soap and water mixture. They instantly sent out another elm. I ended up repotting the first one b/c of the infestation and there were some feeder roots exposed due to lack of soil. The second one was very healthy and has lots of new buds on it. I was able to treat the first tree and the second tree is thriving as well. Also the packaging on both trees were very secure and no damage was done during shipping. Make sure you do your research before buying a small tree as a gift or for your pleasure. These trees have specific temperature, dormancy, watering and sunlight needs and will most likely need supplemental lighting if you want the tree indoors. Great little trees for the price! Would buy again.

so I put it in the garbage. Few days after my Bonsai book arrived and ...
I'm very upset with this tree. When I opened a package I found a strange structure on one of the brunches. I'm quite new to bonsai culture so I thought it's just some dry strangely shaped branches or leaves, so I put it in the garbage. Few days after my Bonsai book arrived and I saw there a picture of exactly the same thing! As I found out it is a dangerous parasite - a hanging basket-worm. I have more than 40 bonsai trees and other plants in my house, so I'm very unhappy and worried that the worm could spread around and affect my plant collection. On top of that the tree came unsecured, without proper wiring, and also no netting on the button of the pot (so the soil comes out at the bottom of the pot when watering). Also, as you can see from the attached photo the tree is yellow and loosing leaves. That was my second purchase from the seller, I'm very dissapointed and looking forward for seller's feedback. Attached - photos of the tree, didn't get a chance to take a pic of actual worm, for this reason I'm attaching an illustration from Boncai enceclopedia for information of other Amazon customers

Avid Gardener Brings a Tree Indoors
I did some serious research before purchasing a bonsai. This elm seemed like the best option for me as a beginner.First, packing was amazing. Albeit hard to get into. It kept my tree safe and secure. Everything arrived as promised with no breaks or visible damage to my tree.Second, the tree it's self is in fair condition. Some white spots on the leaves but it was hard water/mineral deposits that easily rubbed off. The tree is a bit over watered but i imagine that is in the best interests for the tree in transport. I did put the roots out to look and will examine cuttings once I get new soil. I did find a worm of some sort, which was quite disheartening but it happens. Removed and will be vigilant for any other pests. Some of the cuts were very blunt and wires were still left on tree from training but easily removed, no marks left from them. As advertised, beautiful trained bonsai. I will continue to update as often as possible and with any issues.

Arrived in fair condition....
This bonsai arrived in fair condition, but it did look a lot like the product description. With in 24 hours a few of the leaves turned brown, and started to fall off, but this was expected as this species tends to lose some, or all of it's leaves when it has been moved and is in a drastically new environment. Within the week new green shoots were developing, only to start turning brown and withering. Upon closer inspection, I noted thin, cobweb like strands near some of the withered leaves, and tiny white dots in/on the threads. Looking at the spots with a magnifying glass showed them to be spider mites. In response to the spider mites, I moved the tree away from my other bonsai, and purchased some NEEM oil insecticide, which along with certain kinds of dish detergent, can kill the spider mites. After three treatments, the mites are all gone, and the tree is sprouting new shoots very profusely. The 4 stars was due to the tree arriving with pests, but that has been the only negative I have with this seller and product. Overall it is a very nice looking tree.

Please consider shopping local before purchasing this plant online. Not worth the cost.
UPDATE: The plant ended up being dead. Over the course of a few days all of the leaves turned brown and fell off. I tried contacting the company when thing were starting to go south (See photo) but they denied having any record of my purchase even though I provided them pictures of the instruction card showing their company logo. So, naturally i started the return process w/ amazon. Another plant arrived from the same company and it too was brown upon arrival. Unfortunately, I had to request a refund. My advice: Purchase plants local.-------------------Not a huge fan of the plant but I will keep it for the sake of the plant. It looks to be in poor health and a bit dried out, but i typically have a green thumb so hopefully i can bring it around. I will update my review in a few months. My thoughts are as follows...Pros:-It's aliveCons:- Box was delivered upside down, seller should put orientation arrows on the box to ensure that the box is maintained right side up (as much as posible)- Plant has not 'taken root' in the soil it was shipped in. It arrived in an attractive unbroken pot, but the plant is simply stuck into the dirt and doesnt appear to have been in the pot long.- plant is a cutting, which isn't that concerning, but it does take away from the authentic feel.- lots of wires in place keeping the bonsai looking like a bonsai.- poor instruction card, very small print. All in all, it's expensive for what it is. I feel like this same plant could easily be found at Home Depot for $5.99. Please consider shopping local before purchasing this plant online.
