Beautiful Solid Wood
I bought this because I'm not a big fan of bamboo but solid woods. Look classy and works great. Very nice that it's foldable and can be easily stored away in compact form. I also found the recommended recipe on their site great and easy to follow. I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

The ten inch knife is a must
A bit disappointed in the white stopper...it bends quite easily. Definitely need a ten inch knife. I had to purchase a longer knife today. I wish the guides were a bit closer together or that they were adjustable to the loaf size. All together it is very helpful in keeping the slices uniform and once I get my new knife I expect smooth sailing.

Save your money.
Cheaply made with inferior materials. I returned it after using it once when the knife splintered the bamboo slots and got pieces of the wood into my freshly baked bread. Also, the bottom “cutting board” scored quite badly from the knife with just one use and since this is not washable (I’m assuming it’s not because of the bamboo) I was worried about germs accumulating in the plastic-like substance. And, not a single sheet of information or instructions are included and it took a bit of working to figure out how to actually open up the 2 wings. Flimsy at best. Flimsy also describes the very thin insert that goes between the slats to act as a sort of back stop for the loaf. Useless. I used my West Bend slicing guide (that came with an electric knife) for 20 years before it started to fray a bit between the slots.

Bread slicing guide
I have had this for four months and I use it once a week. It is already falling apart. The spring inside the wood connection came out. After using and washing (by hand) it seems to not be as rigid as before. The plastic end piece that is used in the slots bends too easily. This slicer guide is somewhat awkward to use.

Easy to use, Guard Piece Lacking
Looks nice. Cutting board on bottom is nice. But there is no place for the crumbs to go besides your counter. The plastic piece that you slide in to put your bread against to cut is very flimsy - which results in varying width bread slices. Would be nice if the cutting board at the bottom was slotted for a crumb tray.

Sturdy and attractive with helpful numbered slots
Wonderful device, so much better than the bamboo one I had previously which fell apart. More recently I purchased a plastic device that was supposed to do the same thing and it broke on the third use. After I seriously sliced the same finger three times trying to cut bread without a bread slicer I hunted again for something that would work. Because of my previous bad experiences, I studied the information on this device closely before I purchased it. I thought perhaps hardwood would be a much sturdier alternative to bamboo. Indeed it has been and I will never buy anything made out of bamboo again. Also, the numbering of the slots is quite ingenious. With the bamboo device, I was always counting, trying to make sure I got both slots lined up right and invariably having trouble with the knife cutting into the wood. The numbering makes slicing the bread so much easier. The only thing I couldn’t quite seem to figure out was how to get the thing to lay flat again. I looked and I looked and I looked at it, but I could not determine how to fold it down again. I wrote to the company and asked for their feedback. They wrote back promptly and explained to me how to make the device lay flat. I still had to study it some more and read their instructions again and think about what they meant before I finally was able to fold it flat. Of course, once you know the trick, it’s very easy. They were nice enough to say that because of my question they’re going to actually post a video on their website explaining how to fold this device flat.. I would recommend this device to anybody.

Works well - could have a better end stop
The slicer works well for us. In spite of the warnings that a 10" knife is needed, I use an 8" blade, but I use it carefully. It is easy to pull the blade back too far so that it slips out of its guide. A 10" blade would be easier to operate and we may purchase one in the future. My one complaint is that the end stop to rest the end of the loaf against is made out of thin plastic which is too flexible. It should be made either thicker or out of some more rigid material such that it would remain flat. To compensate, I must first position the end stop such that its natural bow is in towards the loaf, then holding the near side of the loaf against the row of slot guides, slide the loaf against this plastic end stop adjusting the loaf's position such that it pushes slightly against end stop until the bow is straightened. A cut then will produce an even slice with the expected thickness. An end stop that did not bow but was rigid enough to remain flat while slid into the last slot would make this operation much easier to complete.

Love this!
It's a beautiful bread slicer board and it perfects my home made sandwich. It's well-built, foldable, and functional. The numbering on the slots definitely help because with multiple slots, it can get confusing where the knife should go.
