It works, but gets finicky on some of my firmer leathers

I relace and repair baseball gloves. Skiving lacing is a necessity, especially for the lace that runs through the palm of a glove. Skivers designed solely for baseball lace can be upwards of $200.This one has exceeded my expectations but there was a learning curve. First of all to use it effectively, it needs to be clamped or bolted to the surface. I mounted mine to a piece of plywood and I clamp it to my work table so it's portable.Secondly, you need to experiment with the correct angle of the blade itself. You're essentially adjusting the depth of the cut . I did that by using some scrap lacing. What I discovered once I had the right angle is as you lift the roller to the leather you almost pinch the leather etween the blade and the roller. You need that tight contact.Once I had the blade locked in at the perfect angle, this thing has been flawless. Whatever you're skiving, there's no rush, take your time as you pull it through. The results have been perfect every time. It comes with more blades than I will need in this lifetime and other rollers that I personally probably won't use but it's worth every penny. I absolutely recommend it as long as you're willing to experiment until it's set up perfectly for what you need it for.
