I wasn't sure how effective a metal detector targetted at kids would actually be, but I'm pleased to report that it works quite well! I was impressed that it can optionally discriminate between junk metals like iron and smaller items like coins. Or if you want to find any type of metal, you can turn this off. In "pinpoint" mode it acts like a normal adult's metal detector making audible tones when passing the head over metal objects. I've already used it to find a lost laundry pole in the lawn which had grass grown over the top and found a key on the lawn I had no idea I'd even lost! It also works great as a (quite large!) stud finder as it can easily locate the small nails used to fix the plasterboard to the stud work. I used this on the ceiling to plan for downlights. I will be fun to take this to the beach and see what we can find. Worth noting it also somes with a trowel and fork. While these are plastic, they are extemely sturdy and I can't think that they would ever break in a child's hands.I found the speaker quite loud so I put some tape over it and that's sorted it. It's a shame it doesn't have a volume knob but as you can adjust it with a piece of tape I'm not doing to dock a star just for that (especially as it has a headphone socket).

I have marked this product down by one star went first, it didn’t seem to work correctly. After a frustrated hour or so I gave up and contacted the company who weren’t particularly helpful by just telling me to read the instructions - which of course I had. I discovered that if you extend the pole too far, then it goes off all the time as well as when it has detected some metal... this was obviously annoying as the beeping noises were continual which is when I thought, perhaps using a pair of headphones would be good. This is a bit where I would almost mark it down another star, but that seems unfair to give it three. For me, a volume control is absolutely essential , especially given that this is for children. I have a decent pair of headphones which are way too loud when using this device. What I do like about it? Is it packs away quite small. The case is okay and the added tools are very useful. Other users have said it is a bit flimsy and hard to put together… I wouldn’t say that it was hard to put together, but I guess if compared to a professional one, it might be a little flimsy. Now I realise how to stop it going off all the time it can become quite a useful and fun tool. I will be using it to find nails and screws in my gravel driveway, and my son and daughter will be using it to find their ‘millions’ when we get to the beach next.I have tested it thoroughly and detected five different coins through a large thick MDF board and managed to pinpoint them very well. The different modes are useful too.

I ordered this for my nephew who's been along with me when I've been detecting in the past.It's great as a starter kit for youngsters and will help aid them as they progress. It detects enough for a kid to get some experience and comes with everything you need.The display is simple to read - mine has bags of features but cost several times this amount.It's lightweight when using too which is perfect for that budding treasure hunter. The material feels a bit cheap but it's strong enough as not to break.

Funktioniert sehr gut, es gibt mehrere Modis(sowohl Signaltöne als auch Vibrieren) und alle Metallen, ob Edelmetall oder Eisen/Aluminium werden erkannt. Bei Gold gibt es einen extra Signal und man muss direkt nah dran sein. Silber und andere Metalle werden deutlich und stark erkannt. Tiefe habe ich noch nicht getestet.
