Easy to use, great option for a start up studio!
I expected this brand to be costly and as a start up studio I was dubious to purchase- however on arrival I realised the excellent quality.Very easy to install and I’m not a tech person! Set up with ease. They look the park. The sound quality is absolutely brilliant. The XLR cables fitted with ease and they fit on most mic stands or arms. So very versatile - small enough if you want to make them mobile and very light weight kit!No issues with connection or sound!Fabulous product and in a very good price range!

Superb value for money with excellent build quality.
This is a great pod mic with superior build quality. I use mine through a Roadcaster Duo whi has a custom profile for the podmic, so sounds good straight out of the box. I have tried it on my Streamer X, which doesn't have a custom profile and it still sounds great.

An instant buy when on offer
I've spent just over a month with this mic and it deffo lived up to expectations however the one thing I did find out with the mic is having a a decent audio interface like a rodecaster would be the way to go, since it has taken me about 3 weeks to a month to get the mic dialed in perfectly on the Mackie m caster studio but since I got it setup perfectly it sounds amazing on my stream. The one thing I would recommend is getting a wind break/ pop filter as rode doesn't supply one in the box which is a downside in my eyes but there cheap enough to pick up for like 10quid. But this mic is a defo and an insta buy for streaming and whatever else you want to use it for if you can get it when it's on offer since I bought mine for 65quid.

Good audio quality at this price point
Audio quality is very good, especially at this price point. Could not realistically differentiate audio quality from more expensive mics. They are pretty heavy at almost 1 kg each so you'll need a good strong mic stand and arm to prevent it moving over time. Ready to work straight out the box and connects with your standard mic cables. Audio quality is good provided you are speaking close and directly into the mic.

brilliant microphone!
i bought this mic last year but i forgot to write a review, on the upside - i have had plenty of time with it and here is what i think of it:you can tell straight away that this is a premium dynamic microphone, its heavy and feels very premium.it sounds amazing paired with a Rodecaster Duo - my voice sounds crisp and very clear, however - this mic requires ALLOT of gain to get working properly (around 56DB) on my previous interface i was nearly maxing the gain out which increased the noise floor quite a bit, so i did have to upgrade but it was worth it!overall 10/10 product i can reccomend!

Happy after pairing with an audio booster attachment
Surprisingly love it. Heard a lot of negative reviews but I'd done my research. It IS a gain heavy mic and even with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th gen audio interface, I have to keep gain almost at max, but pairing this with a Klark Teknik CT 1 inline mic booster (cheaper than a Cloudlifter) solved the issue big time. Now you get that broadcast quality sound with a lot of control over loudness. Now I can keep the audio interface at just 40-45dB than 69dB for gain.Oh, and the mic does seem to have high sibilance at least with my voice, so I simply added an unbranded (cheap) pop filter on top to counter that (apparently it comes with an inbuilt one too though but I needed it still)Has become my go to for YouTube, Google Meet calls and everything broadcast related.

Amazing for price but gain hungry!
I bought this mic after wanting it for over a year now and it sounds amazing truly podcast quality but there are things you will need too get it running well and without a problem mostly also this mic is super heavy like you can feel the quality just from holding it alone. You are gonna need an xlr cable duh and also a audio interface again duhhh but don't cheap out on these unless you want to get a gain booster which are hard af too buy like finding one in stock that won't break the bank will be like finding a grain of sand. Also get a good xlr cable most aren't expensive and mine was 4 pounds and feels good and won't break. If you are in a windy environment get a pop filter to put over it as the internal pop filter is crap and basically not even a feature. Also if you already have a boom arm or any kind of mic arm it should support it as it supports both 5/8" and 3/8" threaded mic stands so no need for a new one or a janky or overpriced adaptor. My only complaints are the fact they advertise a pop filter built in which I'm sure there is too a degree but it does nothing compared too a real one. And also how on my boom arm it doesn't like too screw on securely as the built in shock mount or stand can turn allowing the mic to move where ever needed means I tighten it as much as I would like but it's not a deal breaker.Overall an amazing microphone and sounds incredible for the price(excluding cables and interface and maybe gain booster if needed) and the fact that with some simple EQ it can sound just like the SM7B which seems too be the standard for mics like these I don't know why when this thing exists. So in short in my opinion (baring in mind i came from a blue snowball condenser mic) this thing is insanely good for the price and I don't think I will ever swap mics now. So if you can afford it get it unless you find something you like more. But if you want a good quality and amazing sounding mic for under 100 pounds then this is the one for you but please do listen to sound tests before you decide as not everyone likes the same sound I like :)

The Right Microphone for Podcasters and Voice-Over Artists
I absolutely love this mic, it has completely transformed the way my voice sounds on podcasts and voice-overs—it’s warm, clear, and has that rich broadcast tone you'd expect from much more expensive microphones. It feels incredibly solid and well-built, with a heavy all-metal body that screams quality. I’m using it with an audio interface, and once it's properly dialed in, the sound is crisp with minimal background noise, even in a less-than-perfect room. No need for an external pop filter either—the built-in windscreen does a great job.If you're confused about which microphone to get, check this out.First let's look at Dynamic vs. Condenser Microphones**Dynamic Microphones*** Great for podcasting, voice-overs, and live performances* Handle loud sounds well and are less sensitive to background noise* Very durable and can take a beating* Don't pick up fine audio details as clearly as condenser mics* Example: Rode PodMic**Condenser Microphones*** Best for studio vocals, singing, or acoustic instruments* Very sensitive and capture more detail and high frequencies* Can easily pick up room noise, echoes, or background sounds* Usually require phantom power from an audio interface or mixerNow let's check out USB vs. XLR Microphones**USB Microphones*** Plug directly into your computer's USB port* No extra equipment needed—great for beginners* Usually limited to using one mic at a time* Less flexibility to upgrade your setup later* Example: Blue Yeti**XLR Microphones*** Use professional 3-pin XLR cables and require an audio interface or mixer* Provide better sound quality and more control over audio settings* Allow you to upgrade different parts of your setup over time* Require more setup, but offer better long-term value and performance* Example: Rode PodMic with Focusrite Scarlett SoloI hope this helps :)

Best budget Dynamic Studio Mic for the money
The **Rode PodMic** remains one of the most compelling dynamic broadcast microphones on the market. While it has always carried a reputation for solid build quality, its true audio capabilities depend heavily on what is powering it under the hood.Having owned the original version back in 2021, I initially felt it was decent but slightly underwhelming—only to realize later that my budget audio interface simply wasn't giving it enough clean gain. Re-visiting this microphone with a **Focusrite interface** completely transformed the experience. Paired with proper preamps, the audio quality jumps to genuine studio level, making podcast recordings sound remarkably clear, rich, and articulate.---## Key Breakdown & Review### 1. Audio QualityThe PodMic features a dynamic cardioid capsule tuned specifically for spoken word. It delivers a rich, broadcast-style vocal signature with tight bottom-end warmth and a subtle presence boost around 9 kHz to ensure clarity without sounding harsh. However, with a sensitivity rating of **-57 dB**, it is gain-hungry. When paired with an underpowered interface, you end up introducing noise floor hiss by cranking low-tier preamps. Connected to a clean interface like a Focusrite Scarlett series (which offers plenty of transparent gain), the capsule opens up completely. The result is depth, presence, and crispness that rivals microphones costing three times as much.### 2. Mounting & Build Quality* **Solid All-Metal Chassis:** At over 2 lbs (937g), the PodMic feels like a tank. It is built to handle heavy studio rotation.* **Integrated Yoke Mount:** Rather than relying on fragile clip adapters, it uses an integrated swing-arm mount with standard 5/8" and 3/8" threading.* **Requirement:** Because of its weight, you will need a sturdy desk stand or boom arm (such as the Rode PSA1/PSA1+ or a heavy-duty equivalent) so it doesn't droop over time.### 3. AdjustabilityThe brass knurled thumb screws on either side of the integrated yoke make position adjustments simple and secure. You can easily tilt the mic up or down to achieve the optimal 2-to-4-inch address angle relative to your mouth, and it stays firmly locked in place without slipping during long sessions.### 4. Noise Cancellation & IsolationDynamic microphones excel in untreated room environments, and the PodMic is no exception:* **Off-Axis Rejection:** Its tight cardioid polar pattern ignores room reflections, ambient AC noise, and mechanical keyboard clicks coming from behind or to the sides.* **Plosive Control:** The internal stainless-steel mesh grille and dual-layer pop filter do a great job taming hard "P" and "B" sounds, meaning an ugly external pop filter isn't strictly necessary.* **Vibration Dampening:** An internal capsule shock mount keeps low-end rumble and minor desk bumps from bleeding into your track.### 5. Ease of UseThe PodMic is as plug-and-play as standard analog XLR gear gets. As a standard dynamic mic, it requires **no phantom power (+48V)**. Simply plug an XLR cable into your interface, set your input level, and start recording.### 6. Value for the MoneyAt around **$99 USD**, the PodMic offers exceptional value. While its low sensitivity requires a decent interface or inline preamp (like a Cloudlifter or FetHead on older gear), its baseline performance when properly driven makes it arguably the best budget dynamic broadcast microphone available for podcasters, streamers, and voiceover artists.---## Verdict> **Summary:** The Rode PodMic is a durable, professional broadcast mic that punches well above its weight class. If you tried it in the past and felt it was flat or quiet, upgrading to a clean interface like a Focusrite reveals its true potential—delivering broadcast-ready tone and pristine audio clarity.
