As my senior pups are getting older, we've been battling their bad breath era... and not really winning. Both of my doggos are too old to go through any more anesthetized dental cleanings, yet they've both been diagnosed by the Vet as "heavy tartar makers". We feed Greenies dental chews religiously, and while those treats DO work to freshen their breath, the results are short-lived.We added this water supplement from Tropiclean, for a longer acting solution, and to help tackle the root cause of the problem - their excessive plaque & tartar build-up. Fresher breath from this product is not instaneous like dental chews; this product takes 3+ weeks to take effect.The active ingredients are:• Ceptylpyridinium Chloride (4.9mg)• Green Tea Extract (0.6mg)• Zinc Gluconate (0.5mg)Inactive ingredients:Water, Glycerine, Sodium Benzoate, and Citric Acid.Just like Greenies, this product is accepted by the Veterinary Oral Health Council as a natural defense against canine bad breath and is formulated to prevent plaque & tartar build-up. It is manufactured in the USA by Cosmos Corporation and claims to be tasteless, odorless, and free of dyes. I did taste a drop myself, and it has a slightly sweet flavor. I did not get sick or feel any different afterwards, so I started the treatment on my furbabies immediately, as per the instructions.The full dosage is 3 pumps, which you have to work up to. You start out with one pump added to 8oz water the first week, and increase another pump each week (maxing out at 3 pumps by the third week).I love that the dosage is adminstered by pump; it's so much easier than trying to measure out capfuls. It's important to go slow when adding this to your pet's existing diet, so you can monitor for any potential side effects. We're on week 2 right now with no distress to either of my dogs' digestive systems, no changes to their BM's, and we're starting to notice the additive is indeed working as advertised, because their mouth odors are beginning to improve! The only downside to this product (and other's like it) is that it's a regimen that will have to be continued. If you stop administering Tropiclean to your pup's drinking water, the dragon breath will return.It's up to us to take care of our pup's oral hygeine for the betterment of their health, and this product from Tropiclean is a great option for dog's that can't (or won't) tolerate physical brushing. It's definitely cheaper AND safer than professional dental procedures requiring anesthesia. If your budget will allow for this product to be a repeating (subscribe & save) purchase, AND you can keep the treatment regimen consistent, I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Our boy was born without four teeth so he isn't a bully stick or bone chewer. Therefore, we have to come up with other ways to address his dental health. We have used Tropiclean water additive before and it really does work to keep his breath fresh and minimize at least some dental tarter. The pump is a new application system I haven't seen before in this product. We would usually just pour and measure by the cap full. There are precise measurements on the pump bottle(1, 2 or 3 pumps.) The product has safe ingredients and is accepted by the Veterinary Oral Health Council.To be honest, I prefer the 'measure-in-the-cap method. With pumps, I often find they don't work effectively when the liquid gets low. Tropiclean is a good product though and I recommend. I just don't think the pump system is a particularly better innovation. Thank you!

I have been giving this to my dog for a few days so far and have not had any issues. She has been tolerating it well and has not had any gastrointestinal issues when starting it. I also though have been starting slowly and half the normal dose and just adding a little each time I fill her bowl. There appears to not have a scent and my dog has no idea there is something in there leading me to believe there isn't much of a taste. I am unsure of the effectiveness at this time as I only have been using it for a couple days but given that she is tolerating it well and doesn't notice it is in there.

This product is awesome.I have 4 pets: 2 canine, 2 feline. 1 cat (the foodie, of course) has severe dental issues and few teeth. Both dogs are gullible and think the toothpaste amazing (because I fake taste like it is) so beg. Both cats however become ninjas when threaten to approach them with a toothbrush, willing to go all kitty kung fu ju-jit-su on you.Began using this product in their water few months ago. When vets do dental check during comprehensive exams starting about 2 week mark they check off “recent dental clening complete” & commment what a good job the dentist did. Never have: just started to use this.No more carrion burps that reek of butt from the dogs in my face any more either: just minty ones.Easy admin. Effective.

I was really excited about trying this product but it came to me almost empty, during shipment it leaked everywhere.I was able to use the recommended amount of pumps in our dogs water for 3 days and it is odorless, safe ingredients and recommended by the VOHC (Veterinary Oral Health Council) to reduce plaque.

This came packed fully wrapped in plastic but somehow it was still leaking so I lost 1/4 of the bottle by the time it got here. I’ve used stuff like this before with a different dog and it works well. This time my dog doesn’t seem to b drink as much out of the bowl with this in it. It def helps but he’s gotta drink it

I've tried other water additives before, and my dog has refused to drink the water. I've tried one squirt of this one in his water, and he shows no sign of knowing it's there, so that's a win. It will take time to see how well it works for his breath. He has recently stopped letting me brush his teeth, so I'm trying everything I can to keep them clean and his breath fresh while I try to retrain that skill. However, because I'm trying multiple things at once, it will be hard to know what actually did the trick if it works, so I probably can't give the most comprehensive review.
