The Bose Deception: Declassified

A Great Read as Usual
I have read almost all books written by Anuj Dhar and Chandrachur Ghosh on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Everytime I was in awe of the effort that they put in for research, to go through thousands and thousands of archived or otherwise data, to present those within the two covers of the book in a lucid manner for the consumption of the public in general. This book is not an exception of that, rather I find it more intriguing. All Netaji lovers or anyone interested in the most complex puzzle of Indian contemporary history should read the book.

Honest investigation of independent India's biggest mystery
Read TheBoseDeception. This is by far the most well written book on the Netaji Death Mystery.Comprehensive and nuanced in its approach,it covers each tech. detail of the case as uncovered from the declassified files & puts it in the right context for the readers to understand. Those who are familiar with the case know well of its complexity. It spans over 6-7 decades, entails the role of multiple governments & deals with key events happening around the globe. It also involves the role of numerous diverse figures right from the Japanese generals travelling with Netaji in his supposed last flight to the doctors & nurses who treated him, from the British directors of IB responsible for the investigation of the case to the leading members of INA closest to Netaji.Despite the vastness of the subject at hand , the authors have done an excellent job in simplifying it all by breaking down the entire issue into smaller & clearer sub-sections.The characters are introduced step by step & are given the required introduction. The book is written in a thriller story like format where the reader is first familiarized with the event as is known to everyone , then , is made aware of the discrepancies in the details & finally provided with the required facts. Thus , the veil of lies surrounding this age old mystery is gradually lifted. The narrative across the book is bold & style of writing - catchy , thus even readers with no academic background related to the subject like me are able to easily grasp all the information without much difficulty. The book delves deep into how the voices demanding the truth about the whereabouts of Netaji never really stopped.Right from the early days of the formation of the Indian Republic , questions were incessantly raised by concerned MPs regarding the death mystery of Netaji Subhas.Quoting revolutionary Atindra Nath Bose (as mentioned in the book) , "Is there any free govt. in any part of this world which can get rid of its national hero in such a disgraceful,in such an unsympathetic and unseemly fashion? Could you imagine a more wretched instance of such jealousy , meanness and ingratitude?".The book unhesitatingly gets into the uncomfortable details involved in the case like snooping by Govt. agencies on Netaji's close associates & family members right until the early 80s.The sloggy and negligent role of the Government of India is revealed through its actions over the years.By the end of each chapter you are left wondering , why is the GOI so dismissive of the truth that stares right at our faces?Overall , The Bose Deception is an insightful take & an honest inspection of the biggest mystery of independent India.

Gold Standard!
I have read Anuj Dhar's previous works. This volume is the culmination of his and Chandrachur Ghose's relentless pursuit of the truth of the Netaji's case. Filled with declassified documents, it lays bare the callous nature of the succesive governments with regards to this case and even their active role in suppressing it to suit their political agenda. It's sad that even after 80 years all the documents related to the case have not been clasified. I wish we would get the closure in the near future as all of us deserve to know the truth. This volume would serve as a benchmark for the succeding works of this genre.

Extensive documentation of a conspiracy of silence
A book essentially providing documents obtained by RTI could sound dry but not this one. The writing is top class and lets the documents speak for themselves. It was hard to put down and read like a mystery book unravelling it's secrets. The book sets out to question the plane crash involving Netaji and does its job brilliantly. One is left to wonder why over the years, not a single political leader or bureaucrat broke the conspiracy of silence around what the government knew about the fate of Netaji. I have tried myself asking some very high ranking members of bureaucracy and the answer always is - nothing to see here, it was all settled by the 3 commissions! The book decisively pours cold water on that. Read it and make up your own mind.

This is the ultimate compilation of truth !
I received my eagerly awaited copy last night, fittingly on the auspicious day of Kali Puja. The quality of the book—the print, paper, and size—is exceptional. I couldn’t wait and finished the first chapter right away. Since I’ve been following this highly sought-after topic closely, the first chapter was easy to dive into.I’ll be sharing more insights as I continue reading. No amount of thanks can truly express my gratitude to Chandrachur and Anuj for their relentless work. This is a REFERENCE BOOK, one to read, re-read, and revisit again.

Please GOI.... release the IB files regarding Bose and Gumnami Baba!!!
Again a vast number of new curcumstancial evidence provided by the authors to show that our national leader and the first prime minister of India Subhas Chandra Bose was alive well after his alleged death in plane crash in 1945.When will the Indian government take this matter seriously and release all the IB files? When will the legacy of finally get justice from the Government of India. The Indians are still waiting.
