It heats up well, though stays heated longer after using it then reheating it a 2nd time. I have an old heating pad for my neck that I have had for years. She says it smells bad when it is hot. The smell does not bother me. I found this one and ordered it for her. She likes this and also the scent from it.It works well. Just heat it up in the microwave like the directions tell you and use it.She likes it and is happy to have it.

Bought for my daughter when she got her 1st period. She likes it but did mention it does not retain the heat.

This is a cute heating pad that goes around the neck. It does not go around the upper shoulders because it's not long enough to drape there. But it fits completely around the neck and you can use a loop over the kitty head to keep it in place.The oddest thing is that nowhere on the packaging or on the little instruction card does the word "microwave" appear. The only instructions are for how to clean it (with a tip to keep it away from fire). I had to go back to the listing to assure myself that this really was a microwavable product. The listing says to put in the microwave for 60 seconds. Or you can freeze it for an hour. Freezing wasn't part of the product literature either.I microwaved it for a minute and it was lukewarm. It did warm my neck muscles some and it stayed warm for a while, as promised. Aside from the zipper tab tickling the bag of my neck (yes I'm glad the cover is washable, unlike most, but I hate that tab), it's very comfortable. The fabric is soft and the filling drapes decently.
