Fulltone Full-Drive 1 Overdrive Pedal

It's a fulltone!
I have had really good luck with Fulltone pedals. I own a number (Fulldrive 2, Fulldrive 3, OCD, PlimSoul, etc.) and have always liked them for different reasons. Each has there own vibe and sound. I was a little disappointed at first with this pedal as to me it seems "darker" than my other FullDrive versions. I was expecting for it to sound like the "drive" side of the FullDrive 2 Mosfet. It does not, at least to my ears. Close, but not quite there. All that said, it is a great pedal and sounds great in its own right. Since I have gotten to "know" the pedal a little better, I can say that #1 it has a sound all it's own, don't go expecting it to sound like something else, and #2 like all other Fulltone pedals, this thing is built like a tank.

This is the one.
I've tried them all. I have a Friedman BE-100 stomp box, A Vertex Dynamic Distortion, an Xotic BB Preamp, a Wampler distortion, a Maxon 808, a red Bogner Ecstasy overdrive box, a Klon Centaur, an EHX Soul Food, a Dover Drive, a Jetter GS3, a Blackstone appliances mosfet overdrive, a Fullton Distortion+, a Caline Crazy Cacti, a Timmy, and a few more I can't recall. Then I remembered having a Fulldrive 2 that I haven't plugged in in years but always loved the sound. It was the larger one with the boost and I didn't want it taking up so much space on my board so I found this guy and gave it a whirl. I have it in a loop on my board as pictured. I am using it to provide a bit more gain at low volume into my new Marshall SV 20 head. While some of my other units are unquestionably quality sounding dirt boxes, the Fulldrive sounds like it was made to be in front of this amp. Roll back your guitar volume and it cleans right up. Someone described it as having a "squishiness" which I agree with, its almost like the sag of a tube rectifier, hard to describe but it is natural sounding, not brittle. It is EXACTLY what this amp needed. Even in 5 watt mode the reissue plexi is LOUD and the Fulldrive lets me get that cranked amp sound without having to damage my hearing any more than it already is (I'm 59). It also feels like you could drive a truck over it and it would be fine. I'm very pleased with this purchase, I don't think you can go wrong unless you want it for super hi-gain metal, but if you do, pair it with another stomp box- it sounds incredible pushing my analog man SunFace (oh yeah, forgot that one, and I have a BigMuff too of course). Another subtle aspect I love is when you get a note feeding back it will change in tone and character, going from an ooooooo to a wahhhhhhhh to eeeeeeeee and developing. Very cool, very organic, this pedal is a keeper.

Very transparent overdrive
My stand-alone pedal, very receptive to your picking style, and plenty enough gain on tap which more than makes up for the absence of a boost.

Killer pedal for lead!
I stacked this in front of an AMT S Drive (Soldano sound in a box) and it gives me serious pick harmonics, sustain and easy glide legato. this pedal makes the guitar super responsive, tactile and every thing is easy. LOVE IT!5/5 stars all the way.
