I have been building this style of toy with my kids for over 30 years. Now I'm building them with my grandchild. The brand name ones have gotten so expensive so when this one came up for sale, I wanted to give it a try. You get a huge amount of bricks with this Viking ship. They are the standards size and not the 'mini' bricks so they are compatible with the brand name. Right now there is even a coupon with this so you can get it at a bargain. The instruction booklet is laid out in the standard format with illustrations. The bags of bricks are labeled nicely by numbers. We are still currently working on this as it is a multi-day project but so far it is going together well. Occasionally there is a brick that doesn't fit as well as you might like, but a bit of effort will get it together. All in all, this is a nice set with a lot of bricks at a good price. If you don't want to pay for the brand name or can't afford it, this is a nice option.

I’ve been building LEGO sets for over 30 years, so I know my way around a brick. This Viking Pirate Ship knockoff isn’t terrible—it’s actually kind of fun once it’s built—but getting there felt like decoding ancient runes. The instructions? A cryptic mess. No clear line breaks between pieces, and the printing quality made it nearly impossible to tell dark brown from light brown, from black or gray. I had to squint, guess, and occasionally just wing it. My 4-year-old usually loves helping with builds, especially LEGO sets where the steps are clear and intuitive. But this one? He tapped out early. It was just too confusing for him to follow, which was a bummer since we usually build together. Bottom line: it’s not LEGO, and it shows. But for a fraction of the price, it’s a decent play piece once assembled—just be ready to do all the heavy lifting yourself.

Combines well with the Lego collection

Directions are to read. Grey and navy blue pieces look too much alike. That grey drawing out after done. Pieces don’t stay together. Can’t stand. Will never buy non lego brand again!

This was by far my favorite non Lego kit to build. This ship sits beautifully on my shelf.

This is a fun set and fun to build; pretty easy for a young teen.
