Hennaco certified organic shikakai powder for hair is a USDA organic product. The package is 4.02 Oz of ground, raw powder. It was my first time using shikakai powder, it's easy to use I put one tablespoon of the powder and water in a bowl and made a loose paste, I let it sit for about 3-4 hours and then added hot water to it, I did forget to filter it and it's best not to skip this step. I used mixture as a shampoo , I didn't use any other products to see how it will work. It does not lather it just goes on hair and scalp then you massage in like you would shampoo.. It left my hair soft and clean. My scalp feels clean, I had no itching or irritation, since I forgot to filter it out I did have some little specks of chunks in my hair but once my hair dried they came right out no big deal that was my fault. Its a natural alternative to chemical base shampoos I have naturally curly hair and it worked fine with my hair, my only complaint was the it was supposed to be resealable pouch and it would not reseal , it is unscented.

This is the first time I have used Shikakai, and took all precautions in case I may be allergic: tried just a bit at first on skin, gave it 30 minutes and noticed no skin reaction. I appreciate that this is certified organic, I would not have tried it otherwise. Using it (in a paste, per the instructions) as a shampoo / conditioner leaves the hair silky and smooth, definitely works for me. The only downside is the preparation, and overall the time it takes to use: I found that I need more time flushing it from the hair than regular shampoo and conditioner.

I have allergies. I wish the warnings on the label were on the website and I would have not requested this. It's not for me. This feels like pretty important information that should be made clear to save people from getting a product they can't use. I have used other powder-to-paste items and been fine, and even loved them, but this one isn't for me.

Had never heard of Shikakai before, but as I'm interested in improving my hair health, did want to try it. As it's also Ayurvedic and I normally have good success with such products, that was another plus. Need to use it more to really know results, but so far, so good. It is not clumpy; no bad odor; no difficulty using.

This is good product. The bag was opened so it would be better to package it better for shipping.

I love the effect of shikakai on my hair. It helps to keep my hair shiny. It helps my scalp health. My only complaint is that it takes some time to wash it all out. I'm still not sure if I got it all out lol. Idk if my curly type 4 hair has anything to do with it, but oh well.
