Definitely watch the video first, and probably do a small window before tackling the sliding glass door. It has enough to do 4 small windows plus the slider. So I did my 2 livingroom windows and 2 kitchen windows first. So glad I did, because the slider was not easy to install; needs 2 people to do the slider, for sure. But I would definitely buy this again.

Pretty easy to install if you follow the directions exactly. There's a suggested video which is quite explanatory. Comes with the necessary tools. Use a large table to lay it out. Really press hard using the supplied squeegee to work out the liquid and bubbles. Measure the windows you want to do beforehand. I "guestimated" and came up short and had to reorder a second piece. After measuring your windows exactly, add 2 inches horizontally and vertically since you need a bigger piece during install and then cut away the overlap. Lay out the window squares on a simulation of the various sizes available to reduce the amount of waste. I -was- able to use the straight "factory edge" on a couple of the windows without cutting back. The main reason I installed it was to eliminate/reduce the UV bleaching my indoor carpets and furniture. After installation, the view through the windows is virtually unchanged.

I tested it with a transmission meter I got off Amazon: Visibility: 75% UV blocking: 100% IRR blocking: 50% I hired a Taskrabbit with a lot of experience in installing building and vehicle window films. He said this is one of the lower quality films he's worked with. It creases easily, unlike the higher quality ones. I bought a different one from China and he said that one was a lot better (it was also half the price), and that one has the same visibility and UV but blocks 83% IRR which is even better.

My westward facing windows heat up my house tremendously. I got this just to try and see how it would do. I have an infrared heat gun thing and after doing one part of a window there was a 5° heat decrease between the window with the film and the bare part of the window. That doesn’t sound like much, but for an essentially clear film it made a huge difference in the temperature of our livingroom. I’m going to be adding this stuff to all of our windows. Hoping to keep the electricity bills under control this summer. This should help!
