Not like a lozenge more of a chalky taste but no horrible flavour. Taking to try and ward off colds and build immunity. Easy to use and a good price.

To ward off sore throat
This is a new family staple , heard that zinc is more effective taken as a lozenge at back of throat to ward off sore throat and colds , felt a sore throat coming on and popped one straight away, it is s chalky tablet , similar to those you get at the chemist to fight throat infections, the taste is very mild lemony taste and it melts well, I'm not sure if it was the lozenge but my sore throat didn't become full blown and went away after two days . Would highly recommend to buy and keep just in case someone gets sick , definitely bringing this with me on our holiday in our first aid kit !

Excellent - Chew and let settle at the back of your throat for protection!
Bought through lockdown and bought again, if you start with a sore throat chew one and let all the residue settle at the back of your throat for a while. The Zinc kills any bacteria. I read this in an article by a Doctor. Supposed to kill off harmful bacteria and viruses. We have one anytime we start with a sore throat and it goes straight away!

Good zinc content, metalic taste.
I bought these at a 75% discount. It leaves an aftertaste, which is slightly metalic. I chew these and then drink a glass of liquid instead of letting it disolve on my tongue.The zinc content per dose is exactly what I was after.

Like sucking on little bits of lemony paper
I buy other Solgar products regularly and have done for years but I doubt I'll be getting these again unless they cure my sore throat from the cold I have quickly. The taste is fine. Mild lemon and chalk, the latter of which is to be expected with Zinc. It's the texture which is truly bizarre and unnecessary for something you need to suck. I assume it's the microcrystalline cellulose or whatever bulking agent is in it which is usually used in tablets you swallow. Putting it in a lozenge that needs to be sucked makes no sense whatsoever. It takes forever to dissolve and comes apart in what can only be described as little pieces of cardboard or paper, which can tickle the throat and make you cough. Whatever you do, don’t try chewing them as this seems to make it worse-bigger chunks of papery substance. Solgar really need to take the bulking agent out and go with a sugar base or something that actually dissolves like you'd expect from a lozenge. Overall a very disappointing and truly puzzling product. Amended to 1 star as also gave me an upset stomach very shortly after taking, like many other reviewers so won't be buying these again.

I would not buy these again, they are like chalk and not at all soothing on the throat. Surprised really as Solgar products are usually good

It works for sore throats
I've found these zinc lozenges to be effective at stopping a sore throat. I haven't had a full on cold since taking these over the past two months. I've tried using other things like echinaca in the past but these seem to work much better. It definitely seems to help. After one tablet the sore throat seems to be reduced. Taste isn't that bad at all. Just don't take on an empty stomach.
