I can hear....really hear...for the first time in years!
This is a long-winded review, but I hope it will help anyone "on the fence" about buying these hearing amplifiers (Ziv-201P) by Banglijian. They completely changed my life over the past few days, but I wasn't sure this would be the case. I owe the positive outcome to the kindness and patience of Kaven in Customer Service at Banglijian for helping me through the most emotional purchase of my life...because I can hear again...really hear, and this was no small feat! I have been hard of hearing for 10 years due to an accident, and over the past several years it has gotten progressively worse. I also have been treated for cancer (thankfully, I am in remission) and only recently learned that chemotherapy drugs (the same ones used on me) cause hearing loss. I have owned a consulting business for 20 years, and last year I had to abandon using my desktop phone because every voice on the other end sounded muffled. Now I exclusively use my cell phone with dangling earbuds, and that has its drawbacks. I broke three sets because they get caught on things. I can no longer hear anyone speak unless, (a) it is a man with a deep/well-projected voice who speaks clearly, or (b) someone is within inches of my face. I repeatedly need to say, "Pardon me; can you repeat that?" or, "I'm sorry; I missed that last part", or I look at people with a blank stare because I can't make out the words....at all. Not everyone is patient or understanding when someone cannot hear. Others need to spell out words or names (A as in apple; M as in Mary, etc.), or write them down on paper. There are three main types of hearing loss: (1) conductive hearing loss, where the problem lies in the middle ear (ear drum or ossicles), (2) sensorineural hearing loss, where there is damage in the inner ear (cochlea or hearing nerve); and (3) mixed hearing loss, where there is a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. I had a professional hearing test a few weeks ago and was told I have a moderate to profound "mixed hearing loss" with an "air bone gap, which is the difference between the thresholds for hearing by air conduction and bone conduction. When I was hospitalized a year and a half ago, a nurse brought me a SuperEar 5000 by Sonic Technology. It was a hand-held hearing amplifier with an attached over-the-head headset that covered both ears. I was able to hear normal conversation, but I lost it after a few months, and I didn't like the headset. I purchased a replacement with earbuds, but I broke several sets of earbuds, because they got caught on doorknobs in the kitchen and bathroom. Also, it was not entirely convenient, because I needed to wear it everywhere I went, and it looked like I was always listening to music, even in restaurants. I decided to research behind-the-ear hearing amplifiers after being quoted $5,000-$6,000 by an audiologist for two regular hearing aids (insurance does not pay for hearing aids, and that is outside the realm of my budget). I spent not less than a dozen hours researching hearing amplifiers -- specifically rechargeable ones -- and spent the time reading many hundreds of reviews on Amazon.com, not only on Banglijian's products, but every other hearing amplifiers as well. The reviews for this product were better than similar products that looked the same. I am mechanically-challenged, so when these devices arrived and I saw all of the small pieces, I knew I would not be able to assemble them. I charged them up for several hours, and after the green lights came on (an indication the devices are charged), I called my next door neighbor. He came over to assemble them and even trimmed the clear tubes with cuticle scissors so they would perfectly fit inside my ear once the tips were on. The tips fit nice and snug (I used the middle size thin/narrow mushroom-like tip with the narrow plastic tube). They fit well, and I had no concern about the tip coming apart from the tube. I was not expecting what happened next! I put the first device on and asked my neighbor to say something. He did, and I am sure I was smiling from ear to ear. Then I put the other one on and was able to hear him speak from 5-6 feet away. It seemed as though I was in a different world. It was life changing. I was ecstatic....so much so that I and stayed up late to email friends of my delight that I could hear for the first time in years....really hear (properly). By Saturday morning, however, my glee turned into disappointment. I was planning to go out for breakfast and test my new devices at a restaurant, but I could not get the devices to simultaneously charge. The green lights did not come on. Finally, one charged but the other still had a blue light. I then switched USB cords, thinking one might be defective. Then the second device charged, but it had a high-pitched shrieking sound even with the tip fitting snuggly in my ear. Then the first one lost its charge. I resigned to thinking either both units were defective, or the USB charging cords were defective. On Sunday morning I woke up with enthusiasm to tackle the amplifiers again, but I had largely the same experience, so I put them back in their box and pondered what to do next. On Monday I needed to work, so I didn't do anything. On Tuesday morning, I awoke to find a kind follow up email from Kaven at Banglijian. He wanted to know how I was getting along with my new amplifiers. I explained my challenges and told him I would like to return the devices and receive a refund. I also told him how incredibly well they worked Friday evening. Writing that email to him was an emotional experience, because I went from hope to despair within three days time. The next morning I received another email from Kaven with a long list of tips on how to charge the devices, how not to over-charge, how to turn the devices on and off, how I could use the USB cables in my car if needed, how to properly insert the tips, what I needed to do to achieve the best results when charging them, etc. He had the confidence of an expert and taught me how to troubleshoot -- something I didn't believe I could do on my own. By mid-morning, both devices were evenly charged. His words were so encouraging that my spirits were lifted, and some of Kaven's confidence rubbed off on me. Today I wore the devices to dinner -- the first time I went out with them and after three days of believing I might have received duds. What really impacted me was Kaven's utter confidence that the devices would work, and he was right. He has a unique compassion and exchanged numerous emails with me. He also assured me about the extended return period and said I can return the devices if I was not happy. I hope this review helps someone, and if you are hesitating about buying the Ziv-201P or even the Ziv-201, I recommend reaching out to Kaven. Even if Banglijian did not have an extended warranty, I would not hesitate to buy these devices again, as the price is right, and the quality is there. It just takes a little hand-holding from different time zones ;) IMPORTANT: I have read comments by many people with hearing loss say how tinnitus (e.g., ringing in the ears, sounds of the ocean, clicking, etc.) affects their ability to wear hearing amplifiers or hearing aids because the tinnitus is amplified. I suffered from tinnitus for years and didn't know what caused it. Then I began reading every food label on every product and narrowed it down to three things: (1) Carrageenan, a food additive used in many baked goods and dairy products, (2) Palm Kernel Oil, also used in most baked goods and other sweets and snacks, and (3) diet soft drinks. After I eliminated those things from my diet entirely, I no longer suffer from tinnitus....at all, and haven't for at least the past two years.

Awesome Product!
I actually purchased two devices. The first one I bought was the 201P and the second one was the 09C. My ears have different levels of hearing loss. I could never find an amplifier that worked for my right ear (more profound loss) so I got the 201P first and decided to try it out in my right ear. It was great! I could actually hear out of it. I can keep it set on program 1 and level 3 and hear fine. So I decided to go ahead and purchase another for my left ear, which isn't as bad. I was using a cheap $20 amplifier I had gotten from our local CVS store which was fine, I could at least hear with that in place, but it always amplified EVERY sound and the quality sounded really bad (after I now had a device working for my right ear that had good quality). It sounded tinny. Since my hearing loss in the left ear wasn't as profound as in my right ear, I decided to go for the next step down in decibels and went with the 09C instead. It works great too. I am not as thrilled with the layout of the buttons on it though. I tend to end up hitting the program button instead of the volume toggle many times. I also like how the on/off button of the 201P flashes blue/green when you turn it on and off to let you know it worked. When I take them out at night or put them in each morning, I need to do it under the light with my glasses on to see if I have the toggle for the on/off on the 09C in the correct position. I also like the slightly smaller size of the 201P. But that is a minor thing. I can keep 09C on program 1 and level 3 also and can hear perfectly with it. I did notice that sometimes the 09C seems to cut out and get really loud every so often when I go to adjust it. If I toggle the volume all the way down then up to level 3 again, it seems to correct it. I also noticed that the hard piece screwed onto the device that connects the tube to the earpiece (the thicker tube, not the thin ones) seems to turn and not stay tightly in position. The one on the 201P stays in place. Not sure if it is just made differently or if it is something I am doing when I insert/remove it and adjust it. Anyway, all this is to say that I am happy with my purchases and am hearing much better. Being able to hear in BOTH ears after so many years of only hearing out of one ear is awesome! I am so glad I decided to give the Banglijian devices a chance.

"P" must stand for Powerful!
I'm the kind of guy that hears "most" things. But If the wife is in the next room, or not facing me when she speaks, I always have to ask her to repeat it. I hate that. All the sound tests say that I have mild or very little hearing loss, yet I still have to ask most women to repeat, and background noises make it difficult to hear what I want to hear, especially in noisy environments and watching the TV where the background noise drowns out the voices. That being said, I thought the PSAP was exactly what I needed. I didnt want to go the $500 route, though I can afford it, I just wanted to give it a try. but you always take the chance of missing a little higher priced unit that would have worked, and then get "turned off" by purchasing a unit that just didnt perform because you were a few dollars below the technology you needed...and you'll never know it was there. Amazon and indeed Banglijian have a great return policy, so when the Ziv-201P I got was WAY too loud, I felt the need to return it. Powerful. It charges nice, it fits well, and if you read the instructions carefully you can adjust the tubes, and the ear domes, and the modes, and the volume to get it just right. I think if my hearing loss were greater, this would have worked for me. I could hear the clock in the kitchen ticking while I was watching tv in the other room...on volume level 2!! But, when my wife started to wash dishes, in the other room, the silverware clanging together hurt my ears so bad that I had to grab it and pull that sucker out as fast as I could. So I tried a thinner ear tube, and of course the lowest volume setting, and mode 3 for the most noise reduction, and then the open ear dome and the closed ear dome...but it's just too loud for me. I bought this one (the P model) for the adaptability of the tubes and the 3 modes it has...basically the adjustability. The other two models have only 2 sound modes and dont come with the variety of sound tubes. But too powerful fr me. So I'm returning it and going with the "A" model, less powerful but with only 2 sound modes and less tubes and domes to play with. I wish the lower power units had more sound modes, and tubes, just lower volume. Does it work? Absolutely. But I'm returning mine

Company rectified the problem I had to my satisfaction. See below.
I ordered the ZIV-201 for my left ear, and it worked fairly well for an amplifier. I ordered this one (ZIV-201P) for the other ear, and other than having difficulty with significant whistling/screeching until I could get it situated in my ear correctly, it worked fairly well. However, after only 3 weeks, it will no longer hold a charge. Will be returning it. (original review) I have updated this review because I was contacted by customer service and they offered to replace the amplifier free of charge. I have been happy with the ZIV-201A model, and they are replacing the above model with that one. Appreciate the good service.

Life Changer!
I bought a ZIV-201P for my husband a few months ago, and am happy to report it is more than a success. It is a life-changer. His hearing loss is pretty bad, and he had gradually become withdrawn, unable to hear conversations, or pretty much anything else except the loudest noises. He balked at paying the high prices asked for hearing aids, and was resigned to just living in silence the rest of his life. When I saw the Banglijian hearing aids on Amazon, I thought to take a chance on one, not knowing if it would be strong enough to help him. When it arrived, he was skeptical but since i had spent the money he decided to give it a whirl, and has loved it ever since. Fitting it to him was easy, finding the best settings of volume and gain were also easy, and the break-in period for him was just a day or two. I wish I had thought to take a picture of him and the big grin that spread over his face as for the first time in a long time he could hear footsteps, water running, the fridge humming, and I got tears of joy in my eyes when he gently reminded me I no longer had to shout at him to be heard. He quickly came out of the shell his deafness had put him in, and for that we will be forever grateful. Thank you, Banglijian! I heartily recommend your hearing aids to anybody with bad hearing. They work, they're easy to charge and use, the instruction sheet is easy to follow, and buying one won't set you back thousands of dollars. My only regret is that I didn't look for hearing aids for him on Amazon sooner, but it didn't occur to me that I could find such good ones at such reasonable prices. The good customer reviews on Banglijian's products convinced me to try one, and thank Heavens I did! Again, Thank You!

Fantastic product, even more fantastic customer service
This hearing amplifier is all I need to hear clearly. My professional test showed loss to be moderate to severe in the upper ranges. It has simple controls for on and off and volume that can be adjusted while the appliance is hooked on your ear. Their customer service is fantastic, I e- mailed a question about a high-pitched noise. I immediately got a reply with detailed instructions of how to fix the problem. I fixed the problem. Then some time later I had another problem which was my fault. This aid is very comfortable to wear and you forget you have it on. I went to wash my hair and got the appliance wet. It went dead, but took a charge and still would not work. I , again, e-mailed Kavin at Banglijian to ask what I could do. He was sorry to hear of my problem but said he would send me a new aid. This was totally unexpected and totally generous on the part of the company. With a purchase like this that is so personal and could be problematic, you would want a company to be concerned. This company goes beyond that concern and really makes you feel confident in them and their product. I can't say enough good things about them. pat mattheisen

Excellent customer Service. Problem. We discovered it was due to ear dome need cleaning.
February 25, 2019 Verified Purchase 3-9-19 Mr Kaven was very helpful and sent us a replacement. He offered an upgrade and we got one Ziv-206, because I still wanted the higher volume range, but also wanted the lower volume range offered by that. The one we thought was mal-function it turned out was dirty and the ear dome and tube needed cleaning. After cleaning it is working properly. I wear them as needed and have not really used the noise reduction feature as I prefer to just put them on and not mess around with changing. They are very easy to use. Some times they do make a loud ringing noise. But you can turn them off, then back on , put on again with no noise. I have changed my review from 3 to 5 stars. 2-25-2019--My hearing aids from Banglijian arrived Thursday January 24th 2019. I started using them a week later. I have bilateral hearing loss (due to otosclerosis, for which condition I had 3 stapedectomy) at the lower end of the moderate scale, and do well with volume increase. These are the 1st hearing aids I have owned. >>>Unfortunately my right side aid has stopped working. After charging ( green light shows) and being turned on (green light shows), there are no beeps and no function.<<< >>> This was due to dirty inside tube part going to ear canal.<<< I tried the heavier tube 1st all seemed very loud at the lowest setting and the model I purchased would not go to lesser volume. It was a little traumatic being very loud, but I know that is a common reaction to 1st time hearing aid use. We have yet to try the noise reduction feature. When I cup my hand over the ear, sometimes there is a loud ring, but it subsides when hand is removed. We then changed to the lighter weight tube with the little tail and they were working pretty well and I was getting accustomed to use and operation. They let in less noise and are more comfortable. I have extra extra small ear canals and often the smallest sized ear buds do not stay in there where they belong but just float there near the beginning of my canals. I would like to know if there are smaller size tips of both styles available. Thank you very much, rsvp Julia

My 94 year old mum can now hear me!
It's amazing!!!!! Mum can now hear clearly without any extraneous crackling noises. My 94 year old mum has paid thousands of dollars (last pair of hearing aids cost $8000 and were useless!) for hearing aids that just have been nothing but a waste of time and money. Not wanting to spend/waste more thousands of dollars ( not to mention the hours I have spent with her at hearing appointments) I decided to research on line and found this device, which at a cost of less than $200 and receiving very positive reviews, I thought was worth a try. Well for the first time in ages I have been able to talk to my mother and have her hear me. When visiting her, I used to ring her on my mobile phone as she has her phone turned up and can hear people on the phone. So that was the only way I could converse with her until this amazing and simple device turned up so promptly in the mail after I ordered it. I have since told her care staff about it, who said a lot of the oldies just cannot afford thousands of dollars for hearing aids and those that do have them just leave them in the drawer because they are useless to them. So in all, I cannot recommend this product enough. The next one I buy will be for my husband. Brilliant!!!!! I can't thank you enough for giving the gift of hearing to my mum, who can now hear her own voice, and the fan.... and me!!!!!

Improved hearing ability
I bought this hearing amplifier for my father‑in‑law, and he has been using it ever since. He has had no complaints and is overall very satisfied with it. The build quality is solid, and the battery life has been consistently reliable. His hearing ability has noticeably improved after using this device, which has made a real difference in his day‑to‑day conversations. The only downside we observed is the fitting—it works, but there’s room for improvement to make it more comfortable and secure. Overall, a good product.

Magic,
I spent over $3000 on a hearing aid 2 years ago and this one is so much better, I love it. Easy to fit, easy to wear, doesn't fall out and you don't need to replace the battery every 3 days

So Awkward and Impossible to Fit ! ( MY Experience. )
Trying to cut down the various extension tubes to make a neat fit in the ear cannel was impossible for me. The actual body of the hearing aid is feather light and flimsy and so the plastic tube , when placed in the ear canal, acted as a lever to move the hearing aid off the back of the ear. And as for adjusting the aid itself, I was at the mercy of the little light on the back of the aid, which, by the way you cannot see when it is on your ear when you are trying to adjust it. The whole purchase for me has been a disaster. My advice is to go to a hearing aid specialist and go through through the process of personally selecting a hearing aid which is right for you and can be fitted in the presence of a hearing aid professional.
