Way better performance than expected
Works better than expected and very satisfactory. Tried another brand first and it was horrible. Saved me from buying a new DVD player with hdmi.

I bought and refunded multiple products until I ran into this one, cheap, quick and easy. Using it to connect a ps2 to a monitor and it looks great.

This Component to HDMI converter is not working with my DVDs on my DVD player!
This Component to HDMI converter is not working with my DVDs on my DVD player! The converter is not handling all the resolutions. Many of my DVDs do not play. Some DVDs display a functioning menu but playing the movie or selecting a scene to view results in a blank screen, then “NO SIGNAL.” The “signal” indicator light comes on with the power indicator even when nothing is plugged into the inputs. All these DVDs played on my DVD player & old converter that was very similar to this one. It worked for years before the power supply blew out, taking the converter with it. My DVDs all play through TV component inputs & on a Blu-ray player w/HDMI output.

Great affordable way to play older video games in HD!
Bought this to play my GameCube on an HDTV and I think it’s a pretty good economic choice. Of course the best way would be to play on a CRT TV but that might not be an option for some. The picture was clear with no noticeable input lag.

Does not work with Nintendo 64, but listing is now clearer
I got this converter because I have an old Nintendo 64 that I wanted to connect to my modern TV that only has an HDMI input. The other reviews at this time seemed to indicate that they had used it for this purpose, so I thought it would work. It did not. For reference, I ordered this 8/20/2024, when this listing had less than 20 reviews. I'm assuming that since then the listing has been combined with other more popular ones, since it now has thousands of reviews and orders. I am not the most technically savy with this kind of product, so I do think at least a good chunk of the responsibility is on me for not having a good understanding of what was needed for my device. I'm hoping this review can help clarify if you are also confused. For a Nintendo 64, you need a composite to HDMI converter, which is different from this component to HDMI converter. This does not support RCA-3 cables (yellow, white, red inputs, AKA composite video), it only supports the 5 cable component input. Unless you already have a component cable (RGB cable) for your device, this is useless. I wish I could confirm whether this works well with the intended conversion, especially since the listing now available (as of 10/15/24) doesn't include any mention of the N64 as something that is compatible. Since I cannot fairly determine if it does work as intended, and they have seemed to update the listing to be more clear on what the product is, I went ahead and gave it 4 stars. With that said, I'd be sure to review other comments on how functional it actually is.

Works with games, but not with DVDs.
My intention was to put this between my new Sony BRAVIA XR TV which only has HDMI inputs and my old Pioneer AVR (VSX-56TXi) that does NOT have HDMI output. I am only using the component connections, the white and red connectors for stereo are not used. Connected to my Pioneer AVR are a Denon DVD-2900 DVD player, a Sony PS2 and a Nintendo Wii. Here is what happened: 1. Wii -> Pioneer AVR -> Portta -> TV: Works like a charm. Image quality is as good as I've ever seen. A little bit of diagonal lines but goes a way momentarily. 2. Sony PS2 -> Pioneer AVR -> Portta -> TV: Games works just fine. But DVD playback doesn't work. The TV just says no signal as soon as I play the DVD. I've tried connecting directly PS2 -> Portta -> TV and still experience the same problem. 3. Denon DVD player -> Pioneer AVR -> Portta -> TV: Only the DVD player's setup menu shows on TV. When I start to play a DVD, the TV just says no signal. 4. Pioneer AVR -> Portta -> TV: I am not able to bring up the AVR's setup menu on my TV at all. So all in all, I can only use it to play games which is still good. But the fact that I can't use it to watch my old DVDs and not able to configure my Pioneer AVR is a big disappointment.

Super pour jouer à la PS2 sur un grand écran 4K, les textes sont lisibles et la luminosité et couleur sont justes. Cependant j’enlève 1 étoile car après quelques sessions de jeu, j’ai l’impression que le boîtier bug… j’ai des coupures d’images en plein jeu, je suis obligé de débrancher et rebrancher le câble hdmi…
