Brilliant.
As a first time tripod user and a total amateur when it comes to photography, I wanted a tripod that would make my product photography easier and less shaky than holding the camera myself. This has proven to be terrific value for money and has helped improve my photos enormously. There are loads of features that make adjusting the height/angle of the camera really easy, that, once locked in, holds very firmly too.The locking mechanism for the camera on the base feels really sturdy, and I feel very confident using it that my camera is safe. None of the locking mechanisms are overly complicated and the whole set up process feels very intuitive.Has a nice weight to it, but isn't too heavy, comes in a nice case and packs away quickly. I don't have much to compare with, but for a beginner this has been absolutely brilliant and excellent value for money.

Ideal
Lightweight yet relatively sturdy tripod for cameras and camcorders, it's fully adjustable/lockable with quick-release catches on the legs. The product is aluminium and has a satin finish (in an off-silver colour).I'm 5'10" and my camcorder sits comfortably at eye-level when this tripod is fully extended (no bending required). The legs are in 3 sections and are fully adjustable from 45 - 120cm with a locking collar on the central column to keep them firmly in place. (The remaining height adjustment comes from the hand-crank central column). The unit stands upon self-levelling rubber feet which create a triangular footprint of 84cm per side when opened to maximum. The tripod comes complete with a black nylon medium density carry bag with shoulder strap only, though there is a separate carry handle on the tripod itself (on central column). There are 2 spirit levels; a 'spot' level at the top of the legs and a 'line' level on the camera base plate, and each of the movable 3-way aspects; pan/tilt/angle moves smoothly for the most part (the vertical crank seems the least smooth). Also, each of these can be locked independently in position as desired. [Another reviewer stated the panning action was not smooth but I've not found that problem on the unit I got].Finally, there's a hook at the bottom to hang weights from for additional stability, the tripod will hold up to 3.5Kg.All in all, very pleased, this tripod's a bit of a bargain really.

Great! And Recommended to all
I have always recommended these tripods to all my filmmaking and photography friends. They are sturdy, made from solid materials and light weight. They work wonders! The hook is firmly secured underneath and can hold a hefty sum like a camera bag full of lenses to help weigh down and secure the tripod to whatever surface one is using it with. The handle is in a good position and when carrying it ones hands or knuckles do not get scraped on the legs. The tripod legs extend to a reasonable height and keep rigidity when full extended. Panning and tilting is smooth and locking them feels firm every time. I have my Canon Eos650D and the tilt does not slide down with its weight. If you loose the quick release plate they can be bought from eBay for as little as £1. Has a spirit level. One downside is the carry bag it comes with. I love how it comes with one and it is really useful, but for me it just digs into my neck and shoulder whenever I wear it (now I just carry it like a suitcase) - but I'm sure some foam padding along the strap will solve that issue. For photography it's great, you can lock down your camera and you're good to go. Filmmaking is just as good but can judder when panning or tilting. This can be solved with WD40, Vaseline, or grease - but if you really want smooth motion from your tripod you should be looking at fluid-head tripods (but they can go anywhere from £60 and up!) But if you're just starting filmmaking or are frugal, then this is the tripod for you!Other pros is that this look the part when you're on set. It's gold and black and quite large. When folded up it's still around 65cm tall!If you need a decent tripod for a decent price do yourself a favor and purchase this tripod :)

Excellent tripod especially for an amateur photographer/videographer
Have had this for a few years now and its still as good as new. Its very light and perfect for carrying around. The tripod is small enough to place on a tabletop but can stretch to around 1.5m if needed. The feet swivel around which make it perfect to place at any angle you want whilst still keeping it stable. There are also 2 levels to help you achieve more accuracy to your setup. The quick release plate makes mounting the camera super easy. The top can pretty much positioned to any angle you want due to the hinge on the plate which I've used when im not completely parrallel to the ground but want to disguise that in the frame. Each moving part can be secured very well with the various screw mechanisms to make sure the camera doesnt move once you've achieved the desired position. I've used it numerous times with time lapse photography where its important the camera must be still over a long period of time and have not had any problems with keeping it as such. Overall an amazing item for the price. Went above and beyond what I was expecting.

Money well spent on this tripod
My Hama Star 62 Tripod arrived within 5 days of ordering it. It was well wrapped and protected. On removing it and setting it up my first impression was that this is a good looking piece of kit. The metal legs have a nice sheen and smooth feel to them, and everything works OK. My Nikon D40 fits really well and is held firmly in position.I intend to use this tripod a few times a year, hence the fact I did not lay out a lot of money. It is a very light tripod, tall,if your over 6' you will not have a problem. It also goes down to about 2' for those low shots. It comes in its own black carrier case which, has an adjustable strap. When not in use the case can be folded up and kept in your coat pocket. All in all Im quite pleased with this purchase, which does not differ that much from tripods costing £40 or more.
