I’ve mentioned this in other nail art reviews, but the best thing you can do is go to YouTube and look up “glitter flake nails” (mermaid flake and chameleon flake are also helpful phrases, but I didn’t find the need to be that specific) and watch and learn how the experts do it. And watch more than one person do it, so you can see different techniques and tricks and tools.The most important thing I feel I can tell you is that you want to use this in a controlled space and not anywhere near a laptop screen, or anything else that would attract dust, as it is very easy to make a mess and/or lose the entire container. The glitter pieces range in size from large to microscopic. No open windows. No fans. Be careful even when you open it, especially the first time unsealing the foamy paper sealed inner lid; in fact, I only unsealed mine half way and I fold it back so I lose less of the glitter, and I can take the glitter right from the excess on the paper lid.Secondly, there is a bit of a learning curve. You don’t need as much as you probably think. You might appreciate using an acrylic nail brush or a tiny nail art brush instead of a shadow applicator but that also depends on how much coverage you want or how often you want to dip back in the glitter well. Ultimately I decided that the shadow applicator is my preferred tool in general, but if I’m doing a swag across the nail, it’s going to be the tiny brush. And since this stuff sticks to everything, I think you can cure your base more than you might expect as well.Finally, try it with different polish color base coats. Yes, they show you black and white, but try baby blue. Try purple. Try pink. Try your ugly colors or the ones you are ready to toss because you were disappointed, too; it’s a great way to use those up. Try doing an ombre with a light and a dark color. This stuff is great. No question I will reorder.
