Optimal Health through Causes, Not Symptoms!
This is the single most useful book of the many I have read about taking control of your own health! I love that it provides a straightforward road map toward health improvement, no matter where you are starting from. Dr. Morrison practices Environmental Medicine through individualized protocols. Whether you have no clue at all what that is OR you know that it seeks to find and eliminate causes, not just symptoms, this book is an absolutely indispensable tool.In a nutshell, the author details why a nutritional approach of 1) detoxification and 2) diet and lifestyle modification is so effective in preventing and often reversing chronic conditions and degenerative diseases. His engaging style renders the material clear and interesting, with just enough patient examples to accentuate his point. Without resorting to “medical-speak” or reading like a boring textbook, he manages to simplify the complexities of how our bodies work while providing a wealth of essential information, which actually made me EAGER to begin his step-by-step program!Though he encourages using this invaluable information for better long-term health, you are likely to feel significantly better in just 10-30 days. Yes, you will lose weight, if that’s one of your goals. Yes, you are highly likely to feel more energetic, too. And yes, you will be delighted as your brain fog lifts! But I believe that the book’s most important accomplishment is in clarifying the “cause and effect” relationship between toxins and our many health complaints and ailments, connections that we, and most of the medical establishment, too often fail to make.This book truly made me think! As I read each chapter, a question would often arise in my mind, but, as I read further, each question was invariably answered. As I moved from “what” and “why” to “how”, I learned detox, food ,and lifestyle strategies that are sensible, easy to follow, and inexpensive. Great book - Will update after detox is completed.
This book was very informative. Some of the information I was already aware of so I just skipped through those parts. It was a good read and I got through the book in less than 2 days. I had trouble finding actual reviews on how the diet itself went, so I will go through it to a "T" and come back to update this review. I will start my detox on March 1st if all goes well, so hopefully by April I will have a full review on the actual diet/detox instead of just the book itself. I am doing this detox to help alleviate my allergy and asthma symptoms. On the books detox quiz I scored a 113 which is extremely high. I am currently on 2 allergy medications and 2 inhalers. I'm not looking for a "cure", but I am looking to either lesson my medication dependence or to have my medications work even better.I really appreciate that food is used as the main detox and not a ton of crazy supplements, although a few supplements are suggested. He does suggest his own brand of supplements, but I found them all on Amazon and intend to order from brand names that I already know and trust. Update soon to come! :)**UPDATE** Started the detox today on 3/5/17 I noticed that some of the suggested supplements "might" not go so well with some of my asthma medications so I choose to not take some of them. I urge you to do research and ask your doctor. I'm using Sunwarrior Vanilla protein powder and it tastes horrible! It met the criteria the book asked for so that is why I chose it. I'm use to Vega One powders, but it contains a lot of nightshades that you are suppose to avoid and also doesn't have the amino acid profile the book suggest either. Not sure how I am going to down this "smoothie" 2x a day for the next 30 days. I tried adding fruit and stevia to it with no avail. I have no more money to invest in a new powder so I'm hoping I can choke these down or acquire the taste. I feel hungry all day and find myself wanting to snack ALL THE TIME. This is just day one, so I hate to complain just yet. Just sharing my first day struggles. Will update at the end of the week.

Nothing new but not a bad book
To be honest, I think a lot of what is being written here is what can be found in other books that are also written by medical doctors that advocate not eating wheat and sugar and so on in order to rid your body of toxins that affect metabolism, etc. If you've read Clean by Alejandro Junger or Wheat Belly by William Davis or even any of the Atkins books, you will be already familiar with a lot of this. It's not a bad book but it just didn't really tell me anything new -- but judging it just by itself, it is a fine book about how changing your diet can help your health and even mental and emotional well-being.

makes you think about what we are really eating and how important it is to be aware of what we eat and how we feel. Some good information here and worth reading...

Inspiring for a reality outcome
Four weeks after reading and taking guidance from this book I have lost 14 lbs, 40 points in systolic bp, 30 points in diastolic bp, given up afternoon naps because I have so much energy. I have also discovered the great taste of grass fed beef during this time. Dr Morrison presents his recommendations as though I were sitting with a wise and friendly physician who truly cares about each patient. His information spans a wide spectrum of cause/effect so that readers will readily find the area that will most help them "clear their mind." Dr Morrison's approach, of environment and total body wellness, is refreshing... And hopefully the way doctors are now being trained. BTW - I first purchased this on the Kindle and found the data and menus worthy of earmarks and notation that I bought it in hardback as well. I have since bought copies for friends.

Excellent book. I recommend it. I think it is a must reading book for anyone who suffers modern diseases like cardiovascular disease, thyroid problems, diabetes, cancer, sleeping disorders, etc. The books explains all nutritional and detoxification.
