Old tech
A well made but old bit of technology.Unless you are devoted to Sony products you can pay the same price on the high street for a basic, modern mobile. The battery did not hold its charge.

Good phone let down by poor screen
This is a nice little phone with a lot of features you would only expect on phones of a much higher cost. The bluetooth support is espicially useful, it allowed me to load my contacts from my old phone onto this one with ease. However, the screen is muddy and dull with poor contrast and flickers enough.I would recommend the Sony Ericsson z600 phone instead of this. It is for all intents and purposes the same phone, but the screen is an order of magnitude better than the one on this model.

seriously flawed
Lots of nice bells and whistles on this phone, looks cool too and all that but it's all outweighed by one design flaw:You can connect to the WAP network on this phone very easily - too easily - either by pressing just ONE button - or by hitting the joystick. This means the every time you put it in your pocket without remembering to lock the keypad - easily done - it's VERY likely to dial the network AND to stay connected until you discover it, perhaps hours later - a bit more serious than with most phones, which, if they dial a number accidentally will only end up getting you billed for the time it takes the person on the other end to hang up.Also, pay no attention to the extravagant claims made for the battery life - I find I have to recharge every day or two, just like my previous phone, and that was the main reason I changed models. Very disappointing.

I used to rate Nokias above the lot, but now...
I have to disagree with the reviewer who said the phone is easily scratched, I have a colleague who has had the phone for almost 1 year now, keeps it in his trouser pocket with no leather case and when he showed me it the other week before I upgraded, I was surprised at just how unmarked the phone was, I had a Nokia 8310 last and kept the phone in my pocket, the light, cheep plastic (but original) case was scratched and creaked and moaned as you moved your hand around to press the keys, although still perfectly functional it didn't look great anymore, whereas my colleagues T610 looked almost new.I have no problem seeing the screen during the day, night, shade... have you been to optician lately??The only reason I gave it four stars and not 5 was that the predictive text messaging is not as quick to use as the Nokia's, but now that I'm getting used to it I'm actually starting to like it (a bit) but I'm sure it's a familiarity thing it is not worth a full star taken away from rating but I can't give 4 and 3/4. It has frustrated me enought though to think it's not worth 5 stars. Battery life not the best either, but, hey I go to bed once every 24 hrs, it can charge then... beside the bed if you use it as an alarm. That shouldn't put you off though, think of the positive;great sound, build quality (light years better than Nokia),resolution (ditto),bluetooth (if you want that from Nokia, even on a contract you have to pay about £100 for 6600, £130 for an N Gage (what adult would want that?) or put up with an old monochrome, monotonal, housebrick of a 6310),Oh and there's that build quality (that's worth a mention again)Great phone in my opinion. Nokia, you need to get your act together!
