In einem abgelegenen, idyllischen Haus am Waldrand genießen die Zwillingsbrüder Lukas und Elias die Sommerferien. Die beiden streunen zwischen Waldsee und Maisfeld umher und können die Ankunft ihrer Mutter kaum erwarten. Als sie jedoch mit einbandagiertem Gesicht aus dem Krankenhaus zurückkehrt, sind alle früheren Gewissheiten verschwunden. In der strengen Frau, die nun vor ihnen steht, können sie ihre Mutter kaum wiedererkennen. Schon bald werden sie den Zweifel nicht mehr los, dass eine Fremde die Kontrolle übernimmt. Ein existentieller Kampf um Identität und Urvertrauen entspinnt sich.ICH SEH ICH SEH von Veronika Franz und Severin Fiala seziert in präzise komponierten Bildern, was die Familienwelt im Innersten zusammenhält. Das Regie-Duo erzählt mit furchtloser Schärfe von einem Abgrund, der sich zwischen Wahrnehmung und Gesichtsverlust aufgetan hat. Ihnen gelingt eine hochspannende filmische Erzählung, der man sich kaum entziehen kann.Bonusmaterial:Making of; Original Kinotrailer; Interview; Deleted Scenes; Casting;

Real horror
Truly a horror film, I don't say "original" because the twist may have been touched upon before now, but I didn't see the end coming and I have a conceit that I usually do so. We see angelic normal boys turn into demons but we know why it happens to them, we can feel their pain and see it on their faces. We see these angels performing horrors and we feel for them and also for their victim. I only hope that the boy actors were mature enough to understand what they were portraying because otherwise there could be cries of "exploitation". Only one scene confuses me but I can say no more than this without spoilers but I didn't understand it unless it was a dream sequence. Overall, as shocking as anything I have seen for years, but with the possiblity of possesing a plausible dramatic theme.There is a downside these days when you order a European film, the subtitles are made in ubiquitous American vernacular, so that "mama" or "mum" is translated as "mom", and what might have been "cretin" or "idiot" becomes "retard". No Euro or truly English film is immune. This film shares that flaw, but it is not dialogue intensive.

"Where is Mom?"
This follows on from the brilliant 6th Sense and The Other but with a more European feel. Both the boys are real twins and played their parts superbly, as does mum (played by Susanne Quest). Mum returns heavily bandaged, after an accident but the boys start to believe she isn't who she claims to be. so ensues a game of cat and mouse. The twist at the end is a bit over used but both boys help make this a very enjoyable watch, especially as neither have acted before. I only knocked off 1star as the editing left a bit to be desired.

Must See
This import comes with English subtitles and Goodnight Mommy is a fantastic film on first watch. Replay value isn't as great but as a twisted study of how kids look at the world its notable.

dark horror
I been debating for ages about getting this DVD Having read up on other reviews I went for it Sure glad I did now A film with quite a few twists making it hard to tell who was the most evil the Mother or the twin boys A very dark plot that made it well worth watching

Disturbing
Despite the familiar plot, the contrasting gruesome and beautiful images and sound design make this a disturbingly effective horror film.
