Great idea to protect ports long term.
I use this cable to protect the charging port on my laptop. It is a high quality affair, thin with good braiding and easy to coil / uncoil for storage. The magnetic tips area great idea, they connect easily and stay attached with normal movement. It is able to give full power of 150w for charging my laptop.Occasionally I also use it to charge my phone or connect other devices.. Here the speed is USB2 only but that is plenty fast enough for all but hard drives. The range of tips mean it is compatible with all of my devices and I like that you can purchase additional ones as extras or spares. It means this cable will have a long life.

A great versatile magnetic charger for a good price
The VAFOTON 240W Magnetic Charging Cable is a well-thought-out solution for fast charging and versatility, offering features that make it stand out in the sea of USB-C cables. Here’s a breakdown of my experience using it:Design & Build Quality:The cable itself feels premium, with a sturdy braided nylon exterior that strikes a balance between flexibility and durability. The aluminium alloy connectors are robust and have passed a significant number of bend and plug tests, ensuring longevity. Its 360° and 180° rotation design is brilliant for usability, especially when gaming, watching videos, or charging in awkward positions. However, frequent rotation might risk wear over time, so it’s something to watch out for.Magnetic Tips:The inclusion of magnetic tips for USB-C, Micro USB, and Lightning connectors makes this cable incredibly versatile. It’s perfect for households with mixed devices. The magnets are reasonably strong, keeping the connection secure as long as the device isn’t moved excessively. That said, heavier devices or too much motion can occasionally break the connection, which might frustrate users who need their devices to charge while in use.Charging & Data Transfer Performance:The 240W power capacity promises lightning-fast charging, and while I couldn’t test the full 240W claim, it charged my devices—an iPhone and a MacBook—noticeably faster than standard cables. The integrated e-Marker chip adds an extra layer of safety, regulating power delivery to prevent overheating or overcharging. For data transfer, it maxes out at USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbps), which is sufficient for most users but won’t satisfy those needing higher speeds for tasks like 4K video transfers.Practicality & Drawbacks:I appreciate the magnetic design for its ability to prevent wear on device charging ports—particularly useful for kids who tend to tug cables while gaming or watching videos. However, the magnetic tips are small and easy to misplace, especially if you frequently swap between devices. Including multiple USB-C tips in the package would have been a thoughtful touch.Another limitation is that while it’s versatile, the cable doesn’t quite hit its advertised 240W capacity in every scenario. For example, lower-rated adapters and devices will naturally limit power delivery, which might leave some buyers sceptical of the bold marketing claims. Conclusion:The VAFOTON Magnetic Charging Cable offers excellent versatility, solid build quality, and fast charging capabilities at a reasonable price point. However, the potential for magnetic disconnections and the modest data transfer speed keep it shy of perfection. If you’re looking for a convenient all-in-one cable primarily for fast charging and light data transfer, this is a great option—just keep track of those magnetic tips!Rating: 4/5

Magnetic swivel heads on both ends would be good
Few notes and a request.I'm very happy with this cable for kids, as they often break cables and damage charging ports whilst charging and playing with their devices simultaneously.Ordered 3 but planning to buy more to add to Christmas gifts. And write a better review next time when I see how they last few months. The nine pin head essentially has 5 wires connected end to end. It's not full Usb C cable with usb3 data speeds as it requires more twisted pairs. But it's a great charging cable and seems to include regular USB 2.0 D+ and D- pins, therefore should allow data transfer for upto 480Mbits.And more important for intended use - negotiate Power Delivery.Magnetic cables with just one central pin or three sliding contacts can't do that.Unfortonaly I don't have any device at hand to test 240W capability.I'm not sure can the tiny contacts handle 5 A and what is the cure gauge used in the cable. The packaging said it's rated for 60W, I imagine that would be more believable 20V and 3A. More than good enough for our kids devices. But I hope 240W rating is not fake and the company actually sells products true to their rated values.Really looking forward to test those more.If by any chance anyone is reading this:For Electronics projects it would be useful if you made version of the cables with magnetic swivel connectors in both ends. And make Magnetic connectors solderanle directly to PCB, without the USB or Apple plugs.

I won't be buying again
Useless regarding data.Slow, drops out.The only reason I didn't send them back was. There good for charging. As they pull apart if snagged.

Be ready…
Working perfectly for 3 months. After that usb to type c adapter broke in two pieces. Unfortunately can’t use it anymore.

Song magnet status put
The cable is made from high quality materials, the flexible pivot joint is a bonus and ensures you don't accidentally pull the charging cable off.

Functions well as a charger and the magnetic connection is a nice feature.
I remember seeing the magsafe chargers years ago thinking why don't they adopt it more? It must be a cost/benefit consideration - getting a mag charger sounds good - but with this system you need to plug the magnetic usb-c connector to your phone and then the charging lead can latch on.I used it instead of a regular usb-c charger and it worked well - then I realised when I went to work I left this and had to take it out to charge with a standard usb-c and almost misplaced it as it is quite small and could easily get lost in a pocket. It is secure when in the device though. You only get one usb-c connector - if I had 2 or 3 then I could use the same charging lead across devices - that would be nice.I was able to plug this into my thunderbolt port and also charge my Lenovo thinkpad (albeit a slighly lower 60W vs the 90W charger I use in the office) - but it worked fine. The fact is spins and turns is good but how often would that happen? You probably don't need it and over time I expect the wire might become twisted and risk failing so you can't use the magnetic heads at all.Potentially over-engineered for what I need it to do but a nice change to plugging in a usb-c for my mobile.
