Pretty cool solution...
Works well, fits great. I like it's feel to the eye more than the one that slides in the flash pad which I own. It's just a better shape for me and the rubber is softer so, just more comfortable. Not gonna use the lanyard but not a bad idea for Smallrig to include. Definitely a nice add on for my Sony A7CR. Blocks out the light really well. Highly recommended!

A good solution to Sony's oversight
While I'd certainly prefer that Sony had provided an integrated method for attaching an eyecup to the A7Cii/A7CR, Smallrig has done a great job coming up with a viable alternative. The other 'solutions' rely on the hotshoe for attachment, which I find both kludgy and annoying. I was apprehensive about the way it appears to just slip on the top of the camera, but once I had it in hand I saw that this method is not only unobtrusive, it's quite secure. It stays in play even with the camera swinging at my side with the eyecup against my body. Oh, and the eyecup itself is very nice - comfortable and well designed.

Works for the a6700, with one drawback.
If anyone is curious, it does fit on the a6700. HOWEVER the screen will not come out because it hits the bottom of the eye peice. You can lift the eye peice up slightly and the screen will clear, but the eye peice is not as secure. I still give it 5 stars, as it is not intended for the a6700.

Recommended!!!
This cup is a must have for the A7Cii. It's comfortable. Really easy to install.fits well, it's a quality product that functions as intended. Now the nitpick con: it would be perfect if it were just a little smaller, as it protrudes kind of silly, but that's just me looking at it. Would buy again and totally recommend it.

smallrig viewfinder cup for A7CR okay
The viewfinder eyecup fits well. Con is cannot easily see battery status icon in upper right corner of viewfinder. Must reposition eye on eyecup to see upper right corner of viewfinder screen. Pro is the lanyard that attaches to camera body lugs.

Finally!
I was debating about which accessory I wanted for my A7CII - the thumb grip, or the eye piece, since most of the options don't allow you to use both since they use the hotshoe. Well, Smallgrip not only made this beauty, but also made a thumbgrip that has a coldshoe on top so you can at least still attach something like a video light or other accessory (no hotshoe extension, unfortunately, which I would happily pay for). Amazon literally dropped these off 10 minutes ago, so no idea how well these will hold up, but so far, zero wiggle on either piece. Coupled with the baseplate with wood grip, these accessories completely upgraded the ergonomics of the camera (admittedly at the expense of a little extra weight and fiddliness). Just became a very big Smallrig fan.

Small Rig Viewfinder Eye Cup - Quality Product
Very surprised by the clever design which works perfectly on the Sony A7C2. There is a well placed gap for both the logo-name on top and another for the onboard mic, so audio recording is not affected. The eye-cup fits perfectly and is a pleasure to use. It actually does make quite a difference to using the EVF. It covers your eye making it much easier to view a scene and camera information through the EVF. It is a pity that Sony didn't come up with the idea themselves. There is also a small chain to attach it to the camera, so it stays with the camera if removed from the top. I did feel that the little 'hook' on the chain seems rather flimsy but no doubt it could be replaced with a stronger connection if needed. Otherwise, seems sturdy, well built and does a good job of covering your eye so no light leaks in when using it.

perfetto su Sony A7 CII, quasi su A7 C
utile in giornate di gran sole per isolare il mondo esterno e comporre meglio le fotografie Si integra perfettamente con la Sony A7 CII mentre con la A7C copre uno dei due microfoni integrati
