I've seen Paul Rubens paints advertised on Amazon for a while, but never tried them. This set comes in a nice travel palette, contains lightfast paints, and most of them are single pigment so they'll tend to blend better without turning to mud.The palette and packaging: Typical of this style, but better constructed than some. It was all shipped in a sturdy matching box so it's good for gifting and both paint and palette were undamaged in shipping. The palette fits the included 14 half pans with room for more full or half pans down the middle if you want to add other paints to mix and match. It came with a microfiber cloth that works for wiping brushes or whatever. And a color swatch card for sampling and the paints. The paints came individually wrapped in attractive paper wrappers that slide off easily. They were marked with their number, lightfastness rating, pigment code, and transparency in both English and Chinese. I don't really like the choice of logo with the eye on front and inside of palette and on the microfiber cloth. Maybe it's just me, but I find it a little creepy. Everything else is competently packaged, informative, and would make a nice looking gift.The paints:They're nice. They remind me of Rosa Gallery artist paints. The Olive Green Dark color is a blended color yet so similar to Rosa Dark Green that I suspect they share formulas or manufacturing. Pigments are strong. "Oriental Green" is standard emerald green. "Berlin Blue" is Prussian blue. They blend well and are pleasant to use with a nice set of standard colors to blend just about anything. I like the blended "Brown Umber", which is a nice dark sepia. "Olive Green Dark" isn't my favorite color but it blends well with some yellow to make a good sap green. This would make a very complete travel palette as is. Everyone wants to customize something. These palettes are great for being able to add your favorites and swap paints in and out as mood or project dictate.Value:Pretty good. Especially as a starter or first travel palette. The lightfastness and majority single pigments make this a nice set in a useful format.

I really like these watercolors. They are nicely pigmented and easy to work with. The assortment of colors is nice and will be suitable for most of my projects. The tin is pretty standard, but it comes in a nice box with a swatch card and cleaning cloth. This is one of the nicer sets I've gotten in this size and I would definitely order more from this brand.

I'm a professional artist but amateur water-colourist. I was really surprised at the quality of this set. I'd compare the level of smoothness and pigmentation to my windsor and newton watercolours. Honestly, they're even better. I also really like the metal case compared to the typical plastic case you get with other sets. Great starter set for hobbyists or travel set for more experienced artists, and would make an excellent gift!

They're nice vibrant colors with a lot of pigmentation so a little goes a long way. The color selection is fine, though I'm surprised by how grey/dark the brown umber is. I expected more brown but it's very de-saturated. And since the other brown is actually a red, there isn't much in the earthy tones on the set.I also kinda wish it came with a brush that fits the tin, as it's so tiny not even the small water brush I got fits inside.The box comes with the tin, a sparkly watercolor paper swatch card, a cloth to clean the tin/your brushes on, and a pamphlet with paint info in Chinese.
