I purchased this to use on my Weber spirits grill. It was recommended by a number of people, from friends to Reddit users. I purchased the generic size as I don't need a lot of area and it was cheaper than the item made specifically for my Weber model.The instructions note to prepare it by rubbing a raw onion on it. I grilled boneless skinless chicken thighs, but forgot to rub a little olive oil on the chicken. Next time...

I use this on my PitBoss to grill steaks or chicken. Works great! It's a bit of a pain to clean but worth it to me!

Heats up fast

This is a good size single GrillGrate brand anodized aluminum grilling plate measuring 15" long by 9-1/2" wide. I have other GrillGrates that are various lengths and 5-1/2" wide. All GrillGrates can be connected together along the sides, and this one is no exception. It connects to my other GrillGrate plates just fine, if needed. Note, they will only connect together if the same side is up on all the plates you intend to connect together. This one is nice because it is already twice as wide as the standard plates, so it is easy to move about and use. GrillGrate instruction's do require seasoning this plate, both sides to prevent sticking. They use a cut raw onion to start with - I have found that their instructions work well. All my other GrillGrate purchases have included their branded flipping tool, which works well to flip stuff on the grate side. This one does not come with the tool. Since I already have two or three I'm ok with that, but if you don't already have a flipping tool, you might consider options. I have found GrillGrates to work well. They give nice grill marks on the grate side. Even with the drain slots, the smooth side also works well. Cleaning is pretty much about the same as other grill components, honestly - kind of a pain. I wipe the grates off between uses but don't deep clean very often. I have found their branded slotted cleaning sponge works pretty well (not included in this purchase). GrillGrates says these plates will get warmer than the grill set temperature. I have not found that to be the case on any of the pellet grills I have used them on (i.e. they don't cook any faster for me, but rather a bit slower. I do have to let them recover some heat between meat pieces to get consistent grill makes. I do get better protection from burning the meat verse a typical direct grate approach because this grate shields the grill heat and moderates it better. I use them both at home and camping, and use them regularly. they are a good product, though I have not duplicated some of GrillGrates claims on my equipment. I am happy to have this single-piece, wider grate.

Used this for filets. Worked well.
