ok here is the deal! I have looked at this compass for weeks, but the two negative reviews caused me to balk,but at last I placed the order.The compass came today, it is a work of art and far exceeds my hopes and expectations, and yes this does make a great gift . Now I will have to buy one more to keep. This compass shows the love of Scotland for function and beauty.

Cool compass style, classy design. However the construction is weak, they top didn't match up to the base when it's closed and the inside decal/sticker was bubbled and lifted, looks cheap.

Bought for gift. Top back on inside was a decal...had air bubbles in it. Returned item. Very nice looking though.
