Retro kitchens
This small book is full of pictures and information about British kitchens of the 1950's. Occasionally there are comparisons to American kitchens of that time, but the best part is the historical progression shown from the kitchens of the pre-WWII era to the "modern" kitchens of the mid-twentieth century.

Easy to Read Lots to Learn
This is a quick read but has lots in it that I didn't know about the subject. For example, kitchen counters have a toe space at the bottom to prevent back aches. When rations of sugar and butter ended mid-50s there was a boon to baking, especially cakes. Lots of neat tidbits. The book is British so many references are about England. There are comparisons to America at the time too.

A Colorful History!
A very informative book about the great new styles of the 1950s and the versatility of colored linoleum! I loved the advertisements and the history of these kitchen products.

Fun to look at
Remembering kitchen items from my childhood, even though I was more a child of the sixties than fifties. Informative and nostalgic.

A walk down memory lane
Interesting reading for Baby Boomers who have childhood memories of the changes in home kitchens and the way we buy, cook, and eat food.

... - but where else can you get all these great pics assembled together and contextualised
This range of books I always find a little short in content - but where else can you get all these great pics assembled together and contextualised? This is definitely one of the best in the series (along with "1950s Modern")

Interesting
Bought for friends who have recently bought a property with an original 1950s kitchen. Book included an advertisment for "Paul" kitchen's - the same make as theirs. They were delighted with the book.
