Cutech 40700HC-CT 12 1/2" Spiral Cutterhead Planer with Carbide Tips

As the headline states, I was planning on getting a well respected brand for a planet and then get an aftermarket helical cutter head to install. I’m a hobbyist but the appeal of a quieter tool and longer lasting cutter heads over blades appealed to me. That was going to cost me $800 and I would have gladly paid it, but a friend of mine had a Cuetech and raved about it, so I got my planer a bit sooner than I planned.Out of the box it was accurate. All I had to do was attach the chip hood to my shop vac and adjust for a few scrap pieces of walnut I had jointed on two sides and it was cutting with no snipe and as level as I could get it.I literally love this tool, and there’s very few tools out of the box I will say that about.Skip the box box store brands, and get this one. You’ll be very happy.

Just 4 stars for now because I only had it for a month. However, right out of the box, it worked flawlessly. Very small learning curve and little to no snipe.

I’ve been a woodworker for about a decade, full time for five years. I specialize in slabs and hand planing so I’ve never had the desire to get a big boy planer. I’ve always had a small yellow planer. Out of the box, this thing performs as well if not better. Well, it performs better because of the spiral head, but that’s an unfair judgement. Clear tear out free cuts in 10” wide figured soft maple. Took off 3/32 cuts in 8” wide oak boards with no problem. I would highly recommend this planer.Also, Superquiet.

Works great, even feed, easy set up, best planner this side of professional.

Great value for your money, operates as published on web site. Holds dimensional tolerances from board to board that is repeatable.
