Great tablet for my requirements but slightly over priced.
Very pleased with this purchase having waited a long time for its launch! Was expecting an upgrade to the Nexus 10 but I am very happy with this size and the revised aspect ratio. Have now had this for a month so comments are based on a good amount of use.Surprised with some of the negative reviews this has attracted but I am an Android fan and have always been pleased with HTC products. No problems with light bleed etc. Yes, back gets a little warm in one place after a while .. but not a problem for me. Hardly the lap top heat problem!Build quality is solid and the tablet feels good in the hand. Slightly heavier than expected but I quite like this now. 7 inch tablets feel a bit flimsy now! As reported, by some astute reviewers, it will get fingerprints on (especially if you don't wash your hands) like any phone or tablet! Just wipe it occasionally. No such thing as fingerprint magnetism! Found side buttons hard to use at first (although no build problems with my product) but now really do not find the on off switch a problem. You get familiar with the layout and position. However, 'double tap on screen to open' is a useful feature of Android L.Great sound for a tablet and considering size of speakers. Obviously not hi-fi as some people seem to expect but very listenable without the aid of additional speakers. Not too 'tinny'.Screen very good and perfect for my use. I am not a film or games buff so cannot really compare with hi end competition. Colours not too saturated, as I find with some Samsung products. All a matter of taste I guess.Android L was a bit glitchy at times before updates. Now very smooth and fast, but probably need a faster broadband connection to appreciate its true performance on the web. A few new features (and look) compared with Kit Kat but must say it does not feel appreciably different. All in all a great tablet. Agree that pricing is at the top end compared with previous Nexus tablets and I imagine that further deals will emerge after Xmas. Possibly 10-15% over priced? Cheaper tablets available, but not sure what I would go for to give this spec at this time.

Excellent value for money, a great tablet.
This is an excellent tablet, well designed, fast and very responsive. I have no issues with bleed on the screen. The processor is very fast and takes everything (so far) in its stride. I have the cheaper model (16GB) which suits me fine because I use Dropbox and Spotify and so don't need to store a lot on the tablet. The format is very pleasant (a great change from 16:9) and once paired with a (cheap) Bluetooth keyboard the combination is really effective (close to a Surface Pro but for less than half the price). The free android Office suite doesn't seem to work yet for tablets but if you use Docs to Go you get almost all the functionalities of Word (including 'track changes' and 'comments'). Android L works fine (not the revolution that some reviews led me to believe it is, and some of its best features, such as Heads-up notifications, are available as stand alones, but still, it's fine). The built is typically HTC, ie very solid and with great attention to details. The wake on double tap feature is very good. The multitasking button is really useful as you can switch from one app to the other without losing any content and very fast (for ex you don't need to save your email in Drafts to change the music you're listening to on Spotify and check a contact phone number: you just scroll through the multitasking carousel to get back where you want to be).I can't compare this to an I-pad as I don't have one but I have had several Samsung tablets (including two Notes) and both the built and the design of this one are very superior. The Nexus is more pleasing to handle, faster and more responsive. The Samsung tablets I have had feel cheap and clunky (and I really don't like the TouchWIz interface). One thing to note: it is very easy to pair the Nexus 9 with a mouse. I use a Logitech Ultrathin mouse (see my review of it if you'd like to know more) and it works beautifully, even though the mouse is not advertised for Android. Then between the keyboard and the mouse, the tablet is just great. All in all, I feel that the price is totally justified, and even on the modest side given the quality of the build, the aesthetics of the tablet and the performance of the processor. The only downside I can see is that it's not that light, but then it is comparable to tablets of the same size.PS: HTC sells a very expensive keyboard folio (about £110). This looks very nice but for £19 you can pick up an excellent keyboard and sleeve, see here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OLLRDXQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00. This works great and you can use it with Swiftkey, which means that you still get to enter predictions with a press on the Space bar. That saves even more time, to the extent that now when I work from my desktop I half expect words to complete when I press the Space bar!
