Ordered January 2020 Dead as of January 2022
Well it was fine while it lasted. After two years of storing video and media content for my daughter's film program at college, as of January 17th 2022, the drive started clicking and recycling and would not register as a file system 24 months to the day. The drive spent all its time sitting on her desk and connected to a MacBook Pro. Make sure this is NOT your only backup of essential working files.

Thunderbolt 3 Port - All Drives Are Now Considered Equal
Okay, this drive gets 3 stars because if you have a Thunderbolt 3 port on your windows PC - then you don't need a faster spinning hard drive or fancy video cards. Why 3 stars? - I cannot tell the difference between in data transfer speeds between the $129 5TB USB 3.0 external drive and this $180 3TB (Thunderbolt 3 compatible) external drive.I connected the GLYPH drive directly to my TB3 port. The fastest connection you can make... No difference in transfer data speeds than the Seagate USB 3.0.Maybe it is because I am using a Super Speed TB3 data hub that all drives transfer at 5-6GBs. They are all incredibly fast when connected to a real TB3 port USB 3.0/3.1 data hub. It's the way to go. I have 10TB of storage now that will NOT be making a visit to my local data center... And my other 50TB of Oracle spatial data... Yeah, that's coming home with me and going on the Seagate drives because FYI: You can daisy chain 6 devices with Thunderbolt 3.Hard drives should plummet in price... and I expect smart people will be developing their own data centers in their basement's now that Intel has blessed us with the Thunderbolt 3 port. Don't buy a computer without it!

I Like It
My computer does not have a USB-C connection so I am using the conversion cable to connect to my computers USB 3.0 port. I am running Windows 10 so it was necessary to reformat the drive from HFC to NTSF. This was only a minor inconvenience and took about five minutes. After powering up and running for several minutes, the drive felt slightly warm to the touch. I like the solid feel of the drive. It runs very quietly. I don’t have any way to precisely measure the transfer rate of this drive compared to the Seagate Backup Plus 3 TB drives that I was using. However, it certainly seems like the copying of files, large and small, from my hard drive to the Blackbox Pro 3 TB is faster

This has been a fantastic harddrive so far
This has been a fantastic harddrive so far. The transfer speeds are pretty incredible on my newer model Mac even on non-Thunderbolt PC devices even with the harddrive configured to the exFAT filesystem. Very quiet and easy to forget to turn off when you're done using it haha. The USB C to USB C cable they provide is pretty nice and just as a fair warning its not the longest cable in the world. From what I've read its rather challenging to find cables exceeding 5ft in length that can have The Gen 2 specification and that might be a limitation of the hardware spec and nothing any vendor can do to change.

Glyph Black Box Pro 3TB External HDD
This came in handy with my new Mac Book Pro, when it came to migrating some of the data from windows for use with the MacBook, the transfer was done quickly and easily.

If you care about your DATA, RUN from this hard drive
The first Glyph Blackbox Pro 3 TB I ordered in January 2019 arrived DOA - DEAD ON ARRIVAL. The replacement was terrific for almost two months, as it sat on a table undisturbed as I used it. Then without reason or warning, the drive starts to BEEP. Now it will not mount. How do I access my data? Initially I wasn't worried since GLYPH advertises 2 YEARS BASIC DATA RECOVERY on all their PR materials. This was a determining factor to me as consumer when buying the drive. There is no fine print defining what your warranty actually means. I called Glyph. This is what they said, "You data recovery is not BASIC." It will be at least $1200 to get your data back. I purchased the drive based on that 2 yr data recovery warranty. (Their materials proclaim, "THE INDUSTRY'S BEST WARRANTY." Well, I guess if our President lies, so can once reputable companies.) If you like your data, STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRIVE. Glyph does not honor their word. ... I will upgrade this review if the company responds. Thusfar, only silence.UPDATE ON INITIAL REPORTpSome hours after sending this report, GLYPH phoned back to say they want to do the right thing. They sent me a label to send back the drive, and said I'd have it back in two weeks. Thank you, Glyph

Not what I was looking for
Seems well built but not as small as I had thought. It’s also the slowest hard drive I have and I have another glyph hard drive that I like very much and works great. I tried to back up my computer and it literally was taking hours, I had to cancel the back up. This wasn’t what I was looking for, I also had no idea this wouldn’t work if it wasn’t plugged in.
