Exploring Canada...
Few travel guides provide as much of a sense of a destination as the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide series. The combination of color photography, graphic maps, and insightful diagrams can provide a level of detail not generally available in other guides. This newly updated (2018) DK Eyewitness Travel guide to Canada is a superb resource for planning and enjoying a trip to the U.S.'s neighbor north of the border. The guide combines an appealing mix of narrative, maps, photos, and diagrams. The guide offers upfront sections introducing Canada, before reviewing the highlights in each major region, from Atlantic to Pacific coasts. Sections note such items of interest as historical sites, city zoos, beautiful natural scenary, uniquely Canadian institutions such as the Citadel at Quebec towering over the St. Lawrence River and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy and Museum, and Canada's astonishingly good provincial museum system. The back sections include practicalities on traveling to and within Canada. Sections on where to eat and where to stay are relatively light compared to other guides, but there's enough information to get the research process started. Travelers driving, biking or hiking will likely want to reference additional maps. This guide should be sufficient for planning an enjoyable first time visit. For example, this reviewer has used to the guide to plan multi-day trips on the Trans-Canadian Highway, picking out interesting sites to visit during each day's travel. Highly recommended.

Missing the Maritimes
I was traveling to the Maritimes and specifically purchased this for that reason. Was disappointed that it only had a very small section and virtually nothing on the province of New Brunswick where I spent most of my time. It seemed to focus on Montreal and west and seemed like it did a good job on those areas. Not for travel to the Maritimes though which was disappointing and I returned the item.

Good Pictures - More of a travel book than a history.
I recently went on a trip through the Canadian Maritimes and it did not have enough history for me but did have good ideas for where to visit. Geared to all of Canada so not as useful on my trip. Nice selection of pictures, maps and diagrams.
